I am looking to buy a new tent. I have about £150.00 to spend. I am a single person who likes a bit of space, I also like to stand up in my tent. I have been looking at either the Vango Beta 550XL or the Vango Drummand 400, but thinking both might be a bit big.
I am also concerned that I might struggle to put up on my own.
Any advice would be really greatful.
Thanks.
Maz

Check the hydrostatic head of any tent you are thinking of buying, you want 3000 or over if you want it completely waterproof in all the English weather has to throw at you

I thought it was 1500HH for the minimum to be waterproof, obviously above this will help.

at maztucker, my brother has just bought the vango drummond to get started back in to camping after a 25 year lay off! Looks like a really nice and well made, reliable tent though I'd be a bit concerned about it not having a fully sewn in groundsheet.

If you can stretch your budget, the new HiGear Gobi 4 Elite is a cracker. Last years didn't have the full groundsheet but this years does. I keep one as a spare, it has 2m headroom, a good size sleeping space and a decent living area for tables, chairs and gear.......

Or, the Vango Icarus 500, a bit bigger but really, really popular (I see them everywhere) and pimps to put up - me and my boy use a smaller Icarus 300 on our fishing trips, you could also consider that, but it only stands at 1.5m high, again a breeze to put up.

All of these have a HH of at least 3000 so they'll keep you dry!

Regards,

Marty2711.

I have trouble with the ring and pin way as not very strong... I use a coleman instant tourer 4. All poles attached so pretty much pitched and pegged in about 5 mins ...

I first saw it on a ukcampsite meet with the Scottish deid squirrel gang as almost all of them now have one. ( we alll suffer tent envy lol).

Check out reviews on here. Usually about £130 but costco had them for £99 a few month ago.

Happy Camping

check out the Osaki 3 from Halfords as a stand up height tent. Not much space in the living room bit but enough for a chair and small table.
