Hi I’m a newbie here but wanted to quiz you all on your vast knowledge. We’ve had a few camping trips is our old Campus 5 man tent and now want to get down to some serious camping (we’ve caught the bug!) We are a family of 4 (children aged 5 and 9) and it’s very much a squeeze in the Campus (children on ready beds and just fit with our double, no storage or table space).
I have narrowed our search down to two tents kampa croyde 6 (or 8, I like the 8 but hubby says it’s too big) and Vango Nadina 600. Both similar design which we like – large dividable sleeping at back, big windows so its light, and attached porch. However I have a couple of reservations for each.
Kampa- not a make I’m familiar with, sleep area smaller than the Vango.
Vango – only avalible at Go Outdoors, worried why it’s not been picked it up by another retailer. Has no vestibule as an extra (Kampa does) to enclose porch, smaller living area.
I have seen the Vango at Go Outdoors up and its great, in fact visually I think the Vango looks better (personal opinion I know). They are both coming in at about £500 when you add the vestibule to the Kampus. Any advice on either would be greatly appreciated as all I seem to do is look at tents now. I’m driving my family mad !
Also am I missing a better tent in the same price range and similar spec???
Help please camping guru's :)

Take a look at the vango Maritsa range they come in 5,6,7 berth sizes
Kampa seem to be widely mentioned on here but I've rarely seen one out in the open the croydes anyway
But down to quality they are pretty much the same most mass tent producers out source the manufacturing to India or China so inevitably some tents will sneak through the quality checks and end up on the market
But just remember as your OH mentioned the croyde 8 is too big your little ones won't stay little forever and then they might want friends coming along aswell
------------- April Peak District Beech Croft Farm
May Peak District Duke of York
May Holland Delfse Hout
June Cotton Arms Nantwich
july/aug Cornwall Pentewan Sands
And quite a few local weekenders
Where are you based? We have a local retailer who has a great variety of tents on display including both brands mentioned but we are in Norfolk. Our kampa croyde is in it's 4th year and has stood up fantastically in all weathers we've even left the porch up and I know you're not supposed to. If and when it needs replacing we won't hesitate but to get another kampa
Thanks Paul + Kate will check out the vango Maritsa. Honestly I think I need to go to tent rehab cant stop looking :) and I get what you say about little ones getting bigger. I think OH worried about pitch sizes and actually pitching a big tent .... but i'm working on him!
debs398 - Im in York so a bit too far away. But going to call a stockist i've found in Halifax and see if they have one pitched to look at.Good to hear from a owner as like Paul + Kate i've not seen any on sites to have a nosy at. But as im finding it hard to find stokists, thats maybe why. Also good to know its stood up to bad weather as it always rains when I camp!

Seems like a great deal but cheap, as it includes the footprint and carpet. Which makes me think its too good to be true. Think its another discontinued range. Reviews on here seem ok apart from one which says it blew away with reviewer inside it. Thats a bit worrying! Anyone used the company, outdoor action before or have this tent?

Just looked and can't find any of Marista range, but it did look good. But I did find this while looking

I have bought from them a couple of times before but not a tent.
It is a discontinued range, however as you are getting the carpet and footprint there is not much to worry about. The tent came from the Vango signature range so it will be of a good standard.
It is cheap because it is a 2012 model, no real issue with that, it's old new stock that needs to be cleared.
I would consider the size, weight and pitching time of this tent at this a big tent.
Milliemogs-if it's Springfield camping near Halifax you're looking at, they had a Kampa Croyde 4 pitched but not the 6 when we popped in a few weeks ago. I need to join you in tent rehab by the way...
Thanks youlbury so its worth a consideration then. thanks for the info
Leeds123 - it was Springfield and did ring them only to discover that:( However Towsure in Sheffield have the six on display, hurray. So just need to find time to have a look.
I think I have food for thought now. So as soon as my OH get back from pitching 15 tents for a Scout camp this weekend. I will bombard him with tent info .... Im sure he will be thrilled ;)
We spent a good couple of months looking at different tents online and at showrooms and eventually went for the kampa croyde 8, theres only the 2 of us and a dog (with thoughts of little ones joining us in the future) but we still dont find it to big, and I must say we absolutely love it and would highly recomend it to others, far better than any tent we looked at in a similar price range!
Thanks for all the advice everyone had another look at the Vango Nadina and I think the porch is just too small and the Amazon is too big so I think The Kampa is just right for us ...... We sound like Goldilocks and the three bears! just need to find some time to look at one now.
You have all been really helpful so thank you again :)

Just bear in mind that some campsites charge more if you have a big big BIG tent footprint wise..and we have come across sites who won't even take huge tents (due to site restrictions)
