I'm tempted by this. I'm loving the large windows at the front and the fact that by adding the side, it could be a tent for slightly longer stays. However, I know very little about tents other than our current one. If anyone has seen a lumen and can offer any positives/negatives I would be grateful. Before I go and make what could be an expensive error....

Family of 4. Weekend camping with the occasional week thrown in...

The only negative about the lumen 500 is that for the price it's only got the 75 denier fabric and not the 150d that other vangos have

It's the thickness of the tent fabric so a150d fabric should last longer than a 75d fabric tent
So if your spending a good amount of cash on a tent I'd want it to last
What is it about the lumen that you like

The built in sun canopy and the fact that we might get the tent up without considering divorce! Also like the Eden but can't stretch that far....

Maybe take a look at the vango evoque 600 you can buy the zip on sun canopy
Shop around though to get the best deal but you already know that lol
It's a great tent with the 150d fabric IMHO well worth the extra

Bugbug, I agree with the previous poster and if it's definitely an Airbeam you're after then it may be wise to stretch to a 150d. The suns UV rays weaken the fabric over time.

We've just started using the Vango Eclipse 600. That's in 150d. It feels really sturdy and overall it's a brilliant piece of kit - maybe a bit on the big side for you though given that its mainly weekend trips you're doing. That said, there's a great range of nylon air beams available too in smaller sizes.
