Any advice would be much appreciated, we are a family of four, me, husband & two children aged 3 years and 15 months). We have never been camping before as a family and are looking at 6 man tents with 2 or 3 bedrooms and a large living space and porch. We seem to have narrowed down our search to the Vango Nadina 600 or the Outwell Whitecove 6. Both tents are around the same price..... £550 with footprint and carpet. We are complete novices and would appreciate any help/advice on the pros and cons of each. Thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome!
The nadina has steel poles so will be more rigid/sturdy than the whitecove, but also a lot heavier at 40kg vs 23kg! The pack size of the nadina will be bigger too, have you seen them in the flesh packed in the bag? The space you have in your car might be the deciding factor, it's surprising how a tent alone can swallow up your boot space
Hello, many thanks for your reply I really appreciate it. We had a look at both tents yesterday and I did think the Nadina would take up too much space in the boot (we have a Golf Plus). I didn't realise the difference in weight! That's quite some difference!! Would you recommend any other 6 man tent? I didn't realise how many tent options were available?! 😉
I don't really have any first hand experience of other tents to advise on, sorry. We have a 7 berth tent which is huge so we are trying to get something a little smaller for weekends, but we like having a wide tent, so that we can join all bed pods together into one large room, seems more airy somehow. Smaller seems to mean long and narrow which is not as good for sleeping 4 side by side.
It also depends on how you are planning to use the tent. If its for 2 or 3 nights at a time, and for fair weather camping you might find the Nadina a bit tiresome to put up and down after a while, and the Whitecove 6 might be a better bet.
We personally like the Outwell tents and they seem a little roomier height wise than the Vango's (OH is 6ft2) and the bedroom pods are a generally little longer (if you are sleeping on knee height campbeds or airbeds you generally need more space - worth carrying these into the tent you plan to buy and see if they fit !)

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. We are going camping for the first time in 2 weeks, we are borrowing our friend's tent to see if we like it & if so will opt to buy the Outwell Whitecove 6. My OH is 6' so the more height space we have the better. Thanks again.
