Hi all
Both the above pumps are 12v, can reach the pressure needed for an inflatable tent (not Karsten), and can be set to the desired pressure. The difference seems to be the Bravo has to connect direct to the car battery whereas the Sevylor can be plugged into the cars 12v socket. The Bravo is also twice the price. Does this mean the Bravo is more powerful and will blow the tent up quicker? Like the sound of being able to use the power outlet in the car, but don't want to damage the car or have it take twice as long to blow up. Can anyone offer any help - might be one for Gary to answer?
Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim,
I've also been looking at the Sevylor as I prefer the option of plugging in rather than a battery hook-up, so far I have had conflicting responses from a couple of sites.
Simply Hike advised they have used one to inflate a Vango, but couldn't advise in relation to single inflation points on the Outwells and Kampas. Outdoormegastore have indicated it isn't suitable despite what shows on their website, I have asked them to check the response they have given me.
I'll let you know what I find out.
Jason

Jim,
The Family Tent Shop replied (very quickly btw) to an e-mail I sent this morning advising that the Sevylor is suitable for my Kampa Filey 5 air, obviously making sure it is set to the correct PSI.
Sounds like a good alternative to the Bravo, may just take a little longer than the Bravo as the flow rate is less I believe.
Cheers
Jason

Hi Jason
thanks for the info, I'll check the flow rates out. Sounds like a good option at that price.

I can stock any pump I like... My mum always said "if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all" ... All I can say is has anyone offered to do a YouTube video of any of the pumps blowing up a tent including the harder to start of single inflation point tents.
The long and short of it is every person who has used the Bravo loves it,

Hi Gary,
There in lies our dilemma and why I mention the flow rates, it's also why I still haven't decided which option to go with. Save a few quid with what looks like a suitable alternative - the Sevylor, or buy what has been visibly demonstrated to work - the Bravo!

Jim,
Upon further investigation my thinking is to stump up the extra cash and go for the Bravo, it's proven to work on inflatable tents and has very good feedback in the marine industry which it was originally designed for.
In terms of flow rate it is 160 L/m and the Seyvlor is 43 L/m.
Unfortunately Gary has sold out - speaks volumes in itself - so I'll have to seek one from elsewhere. Check out the video on Garys website of the Bravo in action.
Good luck.
Jason

Hi,

I have Just bought a Bravo one for our Sea Eagle Exploer Kayak, simply because my Foot pump Broke. I will be testing it on My New Eden 600Xl (Thanks Gary for great service) tent next week, as well as the Kayak.

I got the pump from Spindrift, who supplied my Kayak.

When pointing out that my Foot pump broke, they are sending me one of those as well.

Best Regards
Nathan

Thanks all, Gary, if you say it's the best for the job then the Bravo it is. Jason, those flow rates tell the story don't they, I agree it's worth stumping up the extra. Am away tomorrow so will be the hand pump again!! Maybe for the last time :)

No problem Jim, enjoy the work out, hoping to get my pump before our next trip in a week and a halves time.
And thanks to Gary.

Another vote for the bravo bp 12 pump.
Just got back from campbestival and used it there with a very small 12 volt battery, to pump up both tent and extension.
I also believe you can buy a battery pack for the pump.

I am awaiting delivery of a Kampa gale. We will be doing it for our Quechua air 70 beds and a sevylor riviera. It is the same price or a bit cheaper than the air 70 but has more valve adapters. Gary has done a video of it and it was that one that swayed me.

I've got a Sevylor pump which I bought for my Vango Eden. Firstly the air hose came apart on the second use where it attaches to the pump. Secondly after half a dozen uses I believe that it's not as efficient as it was when new, it sounds like its struggling. Also the shut off is unreliable and doesn't consistently work. I don't waste my time with it any more and have gone back to the hand pump which takes less than half the time. In hind site I wish I'd gone for the Bravo but I'm not going to throw any more money at it. The only reason I didn't at the time was the inconvenience of lifting the bonnet to connect the leads.
My advice though would be the bravo but don't expect it to fly up.
