hello we have just bought a second hand vango vista 800 dlx tent being a novice at camping how hard are these tents to put up and how long would it take roughly. Any advice or pictures on it would be appreciated as looking through this site there seems to be a few different variations to this tent our one is the type that has the two white sections on the top of the tent? if that's any help to anyone with information many thanks in advance :)

Rob, we just sold ours after 4 happy years using it. I can't work out what you mean about 2 white sections on the top, most of them were entirely green or I think in the really early days there were some blue ones about.

In terms of pitching it - dead simple. All you do is get the 5 poles and find the two with the grey sections in the middle - those are for the end slots. The 3 longer ones go through slots 2,3 & 4. Feed all those through and get them in their pins then peg out the ground sheet, I managed to do it on my own a couple of times but you'd be better getting some help.

Peg out all the guys and voila. Set up the bedrooms and have a beer - you'll deserve it!

I wrote 2 reviews about it, you can see them on here on the tent reviews section, there's a ton of them and some really good photo's too.

I bought one about 5 years ago from Gooutdoors, I think it was a special made for them by Vango. It had a full sewn in groundsheet and was Blue in colour.
Even had TBS system (tension band system) which helped to tighten things up in high winds.

Great tent for the money, am sure you will like it.

Yip, the Vista was exclusive to GO, it's a kind of a hybrid of the Icarus/ Tigris but a fine tent to boot. Accessories were a bugger to find, got them all in the end from different ranges, the carpet being from the HiGear Kalahari 8.

I loved our one, what a fine service it did us, rain, hail and shine (all in the extreme). Sold to my best mate who comes along camping with us, so I still get to see the old bird.

The Vista was the forerunner of the Tigris later XL versions were only available through GoOutdoors

Just checked my review of the tent, it was actually 2008.
I remember some folks on hear telling me I had got it wrong as this tent did not come with a s.i.g. Most Vistas did not have a s.i.g.

It was a special by GO and it did have a full s.i.g. and was an excellent tent and only paid £145 if I remember rightly.

Ours was the green one and the reason we bought it apart from the space was the fact that it DID have a fully sewn in ground sheet. Brilliant big tent especially if you only use one set of bedrooms - that leaves acres of space.

My only criticism of it was that it did not carry the full height along the full length of the tent which meant that if you used the front door you had to stoop. That was the main reason we sold it on for something else.
