I need an overnighter to travel through France to our main site.

Requirements are:
- 2 adults, 4 kids (7,5,3,1)
- not pop up (disc is too big for space available)
- must take double self-inflate mattresses (so 3 man bedrooms no good, it has to be a 2 man or 4 man space)
- one man pitch job (other will be on entertainment duty)

I'm thinking of getting a 4 man and sleeping 2 in the living area? Or not bothering with the bedroom section to reduce pack size and sleeping everyone in the living area? (We used to do this when we were growing up - tents are more highfalutin' now ;) )

We have an Outwell Wolf Lake 7 for the main stay (fabulous!) but would love to meander down slowly and check out a few places along the way.

Maybe an inflatable? Love the idea of a bell tent (have been reading other threads) but central pole scuppers double mattresses, I think? Mattresses are 130 x 210.

(I'm usually very picky about tents but may have to get down off my high horse because even second hand the wolf lake used up the budget.)

You can get polyester bell tents on Amazon and while you are at it look at the tepee style poly tents by companies like 10T and Grand Canyon. As they're single skin tents they are fair weather tents but would be quick to pitch only having one pole.

Thanks for that. I've had a look - surprisingly roomy looking!

But then I discovered the Touareg... which isn't cheap, or polyester. But is lovely.

Hmmmm.

Cheapish Hi-Gear tent of the right size at Go Outdoors atm. Says it will go up in 20mins.

Thanks for the suggestions. Vango Isis looks like quite a big tent - good to know it can be put up and taken down by one person. I'll have a bit more of a read around...
