Hi everyone - I purchased an Icarus 500 but didn't like it - used it three times this year and it felt really cheap ( plus the poles shredded the first and second time we used it) so I returned it.

I need a tent for a single parent plus boy & girl (8 & 10 yrs) that I can stand up in but easily erected, we are on a tight budget. The Ic 500 was a bit too big I thought so am looking at 4 berth now to do us for a couple of years and have it down to the following :

Coleman Ridgeline 4
Vango Kirby 500 or
Vango Drummond
Outwell Rockwell

Any help, opinions gratefully received ! thanks Mandy

Just bumping this up as would like to buy it shortly. I am off to go outdoors tomorrow so I might be able to see some of them side by side to compare.

Hi, did you see anything you liked in GO?
We put our Icarus 500 in the bin at the campsite last weekend, had the same problems with poles and I agree it just felt cheap. We also had only used it three times.
We have an old blue version Gobi 4 from GO and it has lasted much better and sleeps 3 perfectly. I would recommend it if you're still looking but I bet you've found your dream tent by now

Hi Dolores - haha no I didn't go to look as ended up later than I thought, and then a potential week away was cancelled so I am still looking!!

I like the Gobi 4 but am conscious that with my kids ages (8&10) they may need slightly more privacy ie a bedroom on either side within the next couple of years so am sorely tempted to go for the Coleman Ridgeline Plus and have now seen a pre-owned Cabanon Adventure in good condition too!

am dithering as never had a Coleman before and don't know how easy the cabanon would be to put up by myself/carry !!! decisions. decisions...eh lol

I have a Cabanon Adventure and can put it up by myself, it's the heaving it in and out the car boot plus carrying it more than three feet that defeats me. Even separated into poles and canvas, yes. Also it takes up an awful lot of space in the car.

Hi Val - thanks for that - the ease of portability is a huge consideration for me - so that knocks the Adventure off my shortlist!

Any recent feedback on Coleman would be good although am hoping to visit GO today - so watch this space !! :)

Colemans De Gama and Galileo ranges won an award from Camping Magazine, I do like the look of them especially the De Gama but it has steel poles so it could be a bit heavier than the flexi poled Galileo. I don't think you could go too wrong with either to be honest.
