Hi

We have a new Filey 6 Air tent that leaks around the ridge/hoop junctions, I have done a temporary fix with an aerosol of Fabsil (whilst camping) and now want to finish the job properly. Can you apply the Fabsil seam sealer over polyester that has been recently treated with Fabsil waterproofer?

Cheers

Not sure if you saw my previous reply....I would return as your tent sounds very poor quality as was ours...sales of goods act and fit for purpose is your friend!

Fabsil spray is for use on the outside panels of a tent and not intended to seal seams.

Seam sealer should be used on the seams inside a tent.

Fabsil is silicon so if you have sprayed the seams on the inside of the tent with it there is a possibility the seam sealer won't stick.

If it was a new tent and leaked I think I would be sending it back as suggested.

Hi All

Many thanks for your comments, I have yet to speak to the supplier, but will go the replacement route, however I am getting the impression that these tents do "leak a bit", even the user guide talks about "depending on your expectations seam sealing will be necessary".

My only concern with applying seam sealer, is that the seams leaking are within the air tube pockets.

Will let you know what the dealer response was!

Cheers

On most modern tents the seams are taped on the inside to prevent leaking. The more I hear about air tents the less I want one.

Hi All

Had the dealer come back (very promptly) offering a full refund, a little surprised as we like the style of the tent and were hoping for some kind of "fix" offered!

We hear rumours that Kampa are discontinuing the model, and notice the electric pump is no longer available from them, got to have a good think about the best way to proceed!

That's brilliant news!! Vango certainly have bigger Airbeams than Outwell...

Sadly though it's left us thinking we shall leave air beam alone for now until they have been around abit longer and the technology fine tuned.

As I said, the outwell Vermont XLP was the best fit for us size wise...£999 inc footprint, carpet and roof protector at the family tent shop who are online although we paid a bit more without roof protector as the company we brought off were so reasonable about it!

Good luck
