HI,
I've recently bought an Outwell Concorde M. Am now thinking maybe I should get an extension as if raining, I think it will get wet inside when you open any of the doors and wth the integral ground sheet covering the whole tent floor, not too keen on that idea.

Also, not too keen on the price of the Outwell Concorde extension, which is almost as much as the tent itself.

Am wondering if anyone has any experience of any other awning/extension that would fit the Concorde M?
The Tomcat looks like it would fit nicely, but don't know if the zips match or not. Or maybe a cheaper option as that is also quite expensive for what it is.....

Or possibly the Glendale Side Extension? Can't see on the Outwell site how it attaches over the main tent though.

Thanks

Frank

Why not just get a tarp? Much cheaper and usually far easier to fit, can be used on all your tents too.

I have to say there is never anything better than the correct zip on canopy for the Concorde... As the colour is changing for the Concorde tents next year some retailers are clearing the open fronted extension and the enclosed awning. Some might keep hold of them as next year they will no doubt sell for a premium but if you want one I would suggest you grab a bargain now or you won't get one at all if you change your mind and go down the matching route.

Deffo just get a nice cotton Tarp, hey presto and not a victim of brand marketing and price fixing.

I think it's shocking how Outwell are ditching models after one year, changing colours etc. people pay a fortune for a tent and then think, I'll get the awning next year - only to find it's no longer in production / size has changed / colour has changed etc.

That equates to premium prices for accessories. Very poor.

I agree with Basichendo re marketing changes every year. I guess Outwell have been to the same economics school as football clubs and Harley Davidson, who also change things year in and year out. Creates demand and we, suckers that we are, fall for it all the time......

Tarp is a good idea for the tent floor, still would like something to clip onto the tent so I can cook, etc outside when weather isn't great, which isn't saying much in the UK, is it?

Been also looking at other side extension, thanks for the tip re the 2012 Bear Lake one BTW, and the Gelert Universal Side Porch looks like a good alternative to the front extension, which are probably too big for what I really need and still far too expensive even if on sale. Plus thinking about it, I'm not sure an 8 meter long tent is something I really need.....

I got the bear lake extension for £110 brand new and still in the box from outdoor action. Knowing what outwell are like for swapping and changing colours or even, for that matter whole ranges of tents I would make my mind up quickly because if you do decide to get one at a later date you might find it difficult to find. The concorde xl was a great design and had a fantastic side awning, both are now unavailable after only being on sale for a year
