Does anyone know if there's any where in the south (Reading's where we are) where you can see tents up at all. I don't know if such stores exist (newbies!!)

What sort of tent(s) are you looking for? Go outdoors (Swindon) has some tents on display.



This is the only one i've been to, though I;d imagine there are more.

Nearest Go Outdoors to you is Basingstoke or Oxford. They will have a large display of ready erected tents but possibly not this time of yr. Retailers erect their tent displays at start of season, ie springtime so they may not be any about now, although some might be still up.

Probably not a good idea to buy ex display tent 'bargains' that might be on sale this time of yr though as fabric will have degraded in sunlight if they have been up all summer.

You have the right idea though, its much better to choose from a display of erected tents next spring even if it costs you a bit more rather than buy an end of season bargain online now & risk it not being quite what you want when you erect it.

Best place I've been to see tents is probably a busy campsite and most people will be more than happy to have a chat about there pride and joy and even let you have a look around

Thanks for the vote but our display is down now until early March 2015. I think Sk Camping keep a few tents up over the winter, I think they are in South Godson around the M25

Have you tried Camping World at Frensham (just outside Farnham, Surrey). Worth checking to see if their display is still up.

If you go to Go Outdoors in Basingstoke, all of their display tents are inside in a separate warehouse. Probably worth giving them a call before you set off but last time I went they had loads on display.

I popped in Go Outdoors in Basingstoke this evening to pick up some bits, the tent displays were still up although that showroom was locked so best give them a call to confirm. I suspect though that they simply dont staff it when its quiet in the evening etc.

Last time i was over Camping World a couple of weeks ago the displays were still up although diminished compared to earlier in the year and they were having an open day sale last weekend i think so may have sold a lot off.

You could also try the Family Tent Shop in Shepperton and Guildford, both have display areas although not sure if they're still up.
