: Have a Roandstad Beaver tent and know they went out of business. Just got it and is like new. Would be a great tent for my camping kneads and would like to get some information and parts.
I herd that there is a place that has parts for the tent that might be for sale. Would appreciate any information you might know. If you might also be able to give me there email address I would appreciate it. I believe the company is now under a different name.
I am in the united states and lost at finding the parts. These tents are hard to find here.
Thank you for your time.
Thank you
Ron
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
You have managed to get a great and very rare tent.....would be great to see some photos.
As you know Randstad are no more. I think they stopped trading a few years ago with some lucky people getting some very cheap tents just before they went bust.
As for parts, I think you will need a specialist company to make them for you. I would try Atomatent. The guys who own the company worked for De Waard for many years before setting up on their own. As you probably know De Waard and Randstad were very similar so I am sure they will be familiar with your tent and will be able to help.
Would also be worth posting in the English section of the De Waard forum, as there will be many people there with a lot more knowledge than me forum
Hope that helps and look forward to seeing some photos!
Hi Ron.
I too have a Bever, bloody great aren't they?. The closest tent to them is the De Waard Albatros and the two are extremely similar. Whilst the De warrd has the sexxy looks with its rounded backside, the Bever is better though (that'll wind up the De Waard owners), being bigger (taller), so uses a taller King pole. However the twin upright door poles are sliding types and are directly replaceable with the De Waard ones. Same with the porch poles. Equally the exquisite Holtkamper company also use brown steel sliding poles. Check out their Utopia tent - perhaps the most stunning Pyramide tent of them all and outstanding quality. Doubt you'll need new zippers as you'd need to be a Gorilla to bust the ones on the doors. I'd have them repaired rather than replaced if need be. You tube has lots of good Zipper repair video's. The staking peg eyelets are the same as De Waard so directly replaceable.
I'd also steer away from the temptation to 're-proof' your new Bever, even if it leeks first time. Just soak it, dry it, soak it again and the cotton fibres will expand and seal. My Bever took a vicious beating from French thunderstorms last year without a drop coming in and its never been 'water proofed'. Also, don't worry about the two 'roof bars' from King pole to door poles that Randstad and De Warrd use. I don't bother with mine as the Bever has so many staking points getting it rigid is easy. The roof bars are just a pain and anyway, it looks more 'swoopy' without them.
