Hi

Could I ask - has anyone ordered the Outdoor Rev this year?

If you did - why did you choose it over the Kampa Croyde 6 Air Classic - which is around the same price but gives you polycotton?

Am trying to make the same decision myself so any views would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi joy family
As you know we've ordered one along with the sun canopy
You also by now know the reasons why we changed from the Eden to the 6.0xt
The short of it was
Roughly the same layout
6.0xt has fold flat doors and a great fabric ok it's polyester but it's 150d with built in uv protection
The croyde air seemed dark and low and the material and the finish put me off

Like the look of the OR. Good head height, inflation points, tubes and looks good with canopy. However am concerned its going to get very hot in there in the summer, the doors don't seal up, the curtains go the wrong way and the black panels. I think I could live with the black panels though, funnily enough as there's plenty of light coming in elsewhere and most of the time the front will be open - particularly with the canopy.

The Croyde seems very low and not as spacious as I imagined.

The Euphoria may be a goer but its just very dark in there.

Wish there was an Outwell that could be included in my search. If the Harrier XL had an awning, that would be interesting.

I've got a feeling I may end up having to buy a non perfect one this year and change it next year. As such an Outwell or Vango might be the best one to go for, as better 2nd hand sale potential compared to something like the OR?

Confusion reigns

Ours has arrived this morning!!

For us the decision was easy - the quality of the material, the layout is spot on and the amount of room you have. There are little things that aren't perfect, like the unsealed doors, but we're pondering about fixes for that once we've tested the tent on our first outing.

We looked at it first before we went to see the other tents, so we had something to compare it to.

I'm with Paul & Kate on the Croyde - there were untidy threads showing, it was very dark (maybe not helped by the dark hall) and it felt a little claustrophobic. Same with the Vango Euphoria - the quality was great, but it felt closed in. In fact, on one of the tents (either Croyde or Euphoria) I had to bend down to get out the side door and I'm only 5ft 3.. maybe they weren't shown to their best ability?!

Funny you say about the curtains going the wrong way - the ones on our Inspire zipped up and, where it was so hot, we ended up with zapped flies collecting in the 'pocket' the curtain created.. I much prefer them zipping down to prevent that happening. But, the girl from OR we spoke to said they'd had people saying the same as you, the zipped the wrong way!

I don't think this is our 100% perfect, keep forever tent, but it does for us for now until we see something else that grabs our attention.

Think one of the ideas behind the zip down curtains on the OR is to relieve any stress on the zips from having to pull the curtain up by the zip on other makes again a compromise we were will to accept as our curtains are either open or closed anyway
Joy family - so you think the perfect tent will be next years purchase we thought that last year when we bought the Eden oh and the year before when we bought the Vermont xlp then bought the eternity 600
There will never be a tent that ticks all the boxes but no doubt there will be one that tick more boxes than others and so on for years to come
Clever lot these tent designers are aren't they

We've looked at the OR at our local camp shop too, it is a very nice airy spacious tent (and good value for money). But just a few bits we are not sure about, as mentioned before like the doors not sealed at the bottom as we have a dog, the windows too, after having zip up ones it does seem odd having zip down. We like having ours zipped up half way so we can still see out but people can not see the mess inside lol!. With the heat issue in the summer, the sales man pointed out that the roof is taller than most others so you are not in the hottest part (unless you are really tall) and gives it a chance to circulate and get out. I am waiting to see an illusion 800 when they eventually come out, that seems to have zip up curtains and doors that seal all the way round, but just can not see what the dividing door seals like. We will probably have it with the extra bedroom out apart from the odd occasion when we take other family.
Cant wait to see one in the flesh so I can make up my mind!.
I was surprised with the space of the Corvette xl but with the quality of fabric for the price, there is definitely better contenders out there .

Saw one pitched outside yesterday at Winfields Garforth - love the tent set up but still worried about the pack size and weight. Not sure I really want a trailer!

Has anyone put theirs up yet?

We also saw the OR 6.0xt at Winfields Garforth. It is very impressive, material looks/feels amazing but it is seriously huge. Very tempted but is it too big?! We are a family of 5 (kids 6,4,2) so need a decent space but if we rock up to a campsite with this will they laugh us out of town?!

And where would we store it at home? And would we need a trailer? And it's too big to pitch in our garden so where would we dry it if a wet pack up? Talking to myself now, but still coverting it despite the logistical issues...

Anyone taken delivery of theirs yet?

We've not had chance to pitch ours yet - life's getting in the way :(

It is a big tent, but we've come from a big poled tent so its not big in our eyes. I don't think its one of the biggest out there on the general market. You certainly wouldn't get laughed off the camp site, don't worry about that. Just be honest when you book your pitch and they'll sort you out a pitch to size.

There's only me and hubby at the moment, but we do use a trailer. When we first got our old poled tent we literally had to pack the car to the rim and then hope it all fitted back in at the end of the weekend. It really wasn't fun, so we bought a trailer and then we bought a bigger trailer and now we can put 95% of our kit in the trailer and the coolbox and clothes go in the boot and we don't have to put the seats down.

The box that our tent arrived in said it was 54kg, so it's not light.. we weren't expecting it to be tho, as we had a Vango Inspire last year which was also very heavy. Same goes for the physical size, it took up a lot of room in the boot of my Honda CRV.

You will find the pack size/weight of the inflatables is always going to be that little bit heavier/bigger.

We're in the same situation as you, garden is a smidge too small to pitch, so in the past we've had to dry it out in the garage. Obvs didn't pitch it, but attached some washing lines to the ceiling and did the best we could to hang it up.

I cannot wait to get away with ours.. we missed the space our old tent gave us, the Inspire was a lovely tent but the OR is just amazing!!!
