Hello!

We return yearning for some camping having sold ALL our kit (bar sleeping bags?!)

Having a 3 year old makes camping appeal more again...

We've had a quick look around and nothing is really grabbing us, except the canvas pyramid/bell tents!

We're only going to be camping for 1-3 nights at a time. Have a tiny garden. Wanting a quick set up and not vis a vis ... What do you recommend.

Do you think we're crazy thinking we might get something for £100 ish (second hand!) (Sold our pyramid for 130/less)

X

I bought my 4 berth Easy Camp Licata 400 from Outdoor Action and my Khyam Nevada direct from the Khyam website for less than £100 each brand new so your budget should get you a good tent.
Plenty of choice, especially if looking at second hand tents too.

Tunnel tents are quick and easy to erect and give good use of space.

We have recently bought an old fashioned frame tent off gumtree for £25 and had an old fashioned kitchen stand thrown in. OK it probably cost £10 in fuel to collect + 2 hours driving there and back but it's in great condition other than a few springs needed replacing. £8 on a dozen springs and half hour later new springs applied and now only 3 sprung sections + king poles rather than various random loose poles to hinder erection time.

We already have what we thought was short break (4m bell tent & drive away awning) and longer break (pyramid tent, canopy & kitchen tent) sets ups however after recently coming across a 6m between canvas rule I decided a poor weather cheap tent was required. Our longer break pyramid is a similar sized to this cheap tent but as we don't like cooking smells in our sleeping tent I didn't want to use it as a sleeping, eating & cooking tent and this frame tent should suffice.

Whilst a frame tent isn't as aesthetically pleasing as a bell or pyramid they are solid, practical and often available for a great price with no worry about the depreciation value.

You can always upgrade to your dream tent at a later date and wait patiently for a bargain to come up.
