Hi all,
Sorry if there is a similar thread already! The tent we are looking at is the Berghaus Air 8 but it doesn't appear to have a footprint to go with it.
The tent is 750cm x 300cm and from what I can gather you need a footprint a little smaller than that but I can't find another tent's footprint that is a similar enough size. My father said he usually makes his and so where can I get a reasonably priced heavy duty tarp that will do the job?
Have I missed another tent's footprint that would fit?
It also has a porch available for it, but that states separate groundsheet so I'm guessing I'd have to buy a separate one and that it isn't included.
Footprints seem very expensive to just a normal tarp and we are on a budget so I want to make sure I've covered everything properly as this would be our first tent purchase for our family and we are trying to learn quickly!
Anyone that has any experience of this tent and/or it's porch would be welcome to leave feedback as there's not a lot out there about them as they're new!
Thanks

Hi, we have the Berghaus Air 8 - we bought an Icarus Air 800 footprint from Go Outdoors - the Air 8 is the same width and about 10cms longer than the Icarus 800 so this will be fine. Looking forward to the carpet being available too!
Yes we discovered the porch came with a groundsheet when we bought it - we've put it up quickly indoors and the groundsheet didn't seem to be huge but we didn't peg out.
We bought a Lichfield Carradale 8 footprint for £24.99 on ebay, and it's 730 x 300cm so a pretty good fit!
Also got two Gelert Bliss 4 carpets in the Sports Direct sale - £7.97 each!!! that covers most of the internal area and at some point I may sew them together. For £15 we decided it was well worth it rather than paying an extortionate price for a carpet for another tent.
It's a shame they haven't launched it all together, as most people would prefer all the gear that's made to go together I would imagine.
We've yet to actually camp in it - we're buying bits over the next few months to spread the cost of getting equipped.
We were really impressed with the inflating time, and are really glad we went with it! Despite seeing the dimensions of the porch online, when it was up I was staggered at the size! The overall size of the tent means it's pretty big so I'm slightly concerned about pitch sizes but the space is perfect for our family.
It has a no cooking symbol on a label inside the tent and so having bought the porch to cook under I'm hoping it will be ok as it's very tall and should be well ventilated with the front door open.
The only thing I'm dubious about is the colour - I know that's a really girly thing to say!! It's just a little dark inside the tent - good for sleeping, but I find the vis a vis styles not quite as nice as the tunnel tents but made the compromise based on the other winning features of this tent. (We were indoors too when we put it up!)
It's cheaper to buy a tarp as suggested earlier. You can trim it to size and I usually also "hem" the cut edges but sticking duct tape or gorilla tape over it ( especially if it's a woven style tarp that will fray).
Hi, yes we have this tent, great tent but hard to buy the extras you need along the way, we bough this tarp from amazon, very good quality and perfect size...
I have a Berghaus Air 8 ... do I need tarp under the tent? I have read through this post and many people seem to be discussing buying one or using one...
I think in theory you don't need a groundsheet because there is already the SIG but I have one to mainly keep the tent groundsheet clean and dry - makes it easier to pack away and keep the tent in better condition. It also must act as an extra layer of protection?
