I'm looking for a new family tent, on paper the Vermont XLP ticks all the boxes and I did have my heart set on one, however I stumbled across a Vango Eden V 600XL AirBeam today and it meets 90% of my wants list for a very good price.

Before I purchase, i'd like to have a look and a poke around a demo model of the Vermont XLP but I can't find anywhere that has one. I'm in Leicester, happy to travel up to 100 miles-ish to view one.

Is there any reviews on here about both tents .... To help you decide without the need to travel?

I have poles .. And I think the general trend is moving away from them to the air beam tents ..... Definitely time saving and the pole tents seem to be for sale all over eBay at great prices ....

Look in tent review section, search the brand name and model there are some informative reviews and often pictures.

Decisions are not good 😂😂

We have the XLP and have bought an airbeam for weekends, pitching is easier, quicker and a lot less stressful. Whilst the XLP is a heavy old tent, raising the poles isn't the main issue for me, its the number of pegs that go in, 72 if I remember rightly - back breaking when they're buried deep.

However, if its for more than a few nights then we'd definitely take the XLP as a superb tent, drying rails and a front room for storage and cooking plus plenty of room in the bedrooms.

Would be good to have it all in one tent :)

When we were looking around to upgrade our tent a few weeks ago, Yoemans Outdoors at Codsall Garden Centre just outside Wolverhampton had one on display. Might be worth giving them a ring to see if it's still up.

Other thing to add is, you definately want to see a tent in the flesh. We had our heart set on a Montana 6p, but ended up with the Kampa Croyde 6. If it had just been left to reviews and photos we would have got the Montana but after seeing the Croyde in the flesh we realised it was the much better tent for us!

I had a few tents on my original shortlist, Kampa 6 Air, Kampa Croyde 8, Outwell Alabama 7P, OR Ozone 6.0XT, Vango Eden 600XL and the Vermont XLP. Apart from the two Outwell's i've looked at them all. They all have their pro's and con's but until i've seen the Vermont I don't really feel I can make a decision, especially as that's the one i think I really want.

In terms of pegging, there are 4 of us, so i'm sure we can make light work of it.

Thank you RichJean+Ellie, I called Yeomans this morning and have been for a look this afternoon. I was very impressed with the tent. It's the small things that make the difference, like zip up curtains on every window, the ability to convert it from two living rooms to one and the tinted windows.

Yeomans also had a Wolf Lake 7 up and a few others with I had a nosy around. Very nice tents.

Yes the XLP is a seriously nice tent, I remember looking inside it when we were in Yeomans, way too big for us though! The zip up curtains were one of the things that appealed to us on the Montana 6p until we realised that due to the many windows in the panoramic front we would feel a bit self conscious with the constant zip, zip, zip.... noise we would be making morning and night! Tinted windows would be nice though!
