Which should I go for?

I want something small and light that I can carry on my back for a couple of miles or on a bike. It'll be mainly used for wild camping or in wooded campsites.

I saw this one http://www.ddhammocks.com/product/dd-travel-hammock and thought it might tick all the boxes. Does anyone else have one and how do you find it?

Ticket to the moon

I've got one and there great. I have the tree friendly straps and carabiners. I use mine for wild camping.

I've also got the DD Tarp.

I would definately say yto go for hammock and tarp. The tarp provides a good bit of extra protected storage space.

Overnight in a hammock. Thread on the trip report page. It's a DD hammock and tarp, I'm sure if Armchaircamper sees this, she'll be delighted to answer questions

A couple of possible issues with a hammock (easily resolved with forward thinking!):

1. It sounds obvious, but getting into a hammock makes it swing. If you're strung between trees and there's nothing for you to grab to steady it, it will keep swinging. To avoid seasickness, make sure you can reach out and steady yourself against something!

2. COLD BUM. If there's nothing between you and the cold cold air but a sleeping bag and the base of the hammock, you will get a very chilly rear end. Solved by putting a self-inflating mat in the base of the hammock to insulate it. It means an extra thing to carry, but it's SO worth it!
