Picked this tent up today after issues with our previous tent (see other thread on Camping under Canvas).
Just wondered if anyone else has/has had one? There are only a couple of reviews on here for the Asante. I know JimCall has/had one as he did a review, just wondering if there are any others?
We've seen it pitched before we purchased.
It's from the 2012/2013 Vango Signature Range, we also picked up the canopy which is supposed to be a really good fit.
Vango Asante 500 (520x330, 700x330 with canopy)
5 person (only for use by 3 of us)
75d polyester fabric (upgrade from 70d)
6000mm HH
Steel poles
Storm webbing straps on each of the 4 corners etc.

Test pitched the Asante last night and fitted the bedroom pods, all looking OK.
Having never pitched a steel pole tent before, we had a bit of a struggle getting the ends of the poles into the pins, so used the Cross Camping method which still proved a bit tricky as everything seems a bit tight even with the ring and pin straps loosened.
Since then I've seen this video, would anyone agree this is an easier way to pitch a steel poled tunnel tent?

Not looking like a popular tent then

First pitching is never easy the method is good however, this is also worth watching for steel poles with ring and pin, it works for me very well make sure the fly sheet fabric is not caught at the top where it enters the fabric sleeve.

Thanks that was the Cross Camping method I was referring to. It worked OK but everything still just seemed a little tight even with the straps on the one side loose and no fabric caught up anywhere. I'm going to try the centre roof pole and side poles first next time to get it standing, then do the others to see if that helps like in the Outwell video I linked above.
If you still have the Calisto 600 that shows under your "Outfits", I should imagine the Asante should pitch very similar to that as it's almost the same design..?

Didn't realise that was the video you were referring too as the method is on a seperate video.TBH the Outwell video is fine if you prefer.
Yes it does pitch the same way and very similar , I use the Cross camping method and start from the the front, however I found once I had pitched after a couple of times it worked more affectively I guess a little bit of stretching out of the materials will be in order.

A bit of trial and error and take your time, I have pitched the calisto 600 + porch on my own no problem... and the Corvus 5 + 2 in high heat, never again.

I’ve put the Vango Calisto 400, Vango Asante 400 and just upgraded to an Asante 500. Watched these videos but found it better (putting this tents up on my own I might add) put roof poles in and all the poles in on one side (on the same side all lying down the same way) go around to the other side slide the remaining legs into place, once there all in (whilst lay down) start with the end one working your way to the front by simply using the ground (remainder of peg top showing by placing it in the soil/earth/ground) to steady the pole on the opposite side, push poles towards one another and your pin should slip in easily
