I've just bought a Kampa Hayling 4 as a family weekend tent. We've had a Gelert Corvus 5+2 the last few years and never had any success leaving bedrooms in situ for packing. The Hayling only has one inner and the hanging toggles are very stiff compared to the Corvus. I'm wondering if I can get away with packing up with the bedroom attached. I've just done a trial pitch in the garden and with a bit of a break in the middle it went 'ok' but I'm camping alone with my youngest child in a few weeks and want to limit my swearing. Thank you.

We have a kampa croyde and always pack it away with the inner in situ, never had any problems

Hi, we have a new Kampa Croyde 6 Air - and we have packed it away with the bed room pods still attached and managed to get it packed more tightly than it arrived!

To be honest, it was not a matter of 'we' it was all my hubby's doing and his weight squishing it into a tight roll. I just made encouraging comments, and put the bag in the right place.

So yes I'm sure it is possible for you to do it.

I always pack my tents up with the inner still attached. What I usually do when I get a new tent (and I will be doing this tonight with my new one!) is test pitch in the garden and assuming all looks OK attached the bedroom pods so when we go away and use it for the first time we save time setting up!

The inners are usually made of very light, breathable polyester so leaving them attached hardly makes any difference to the weight when erecting.

My inners are attached at the bottom to the groundsheet with adjustable clips and straps so I do release the ones at the front to take away any strain. I also leave the doors open to release the air. One of the advantages of having a sewn in groundsheet is that you can leave the inner attached. I used to hate the job of attaching the inner in my old tents each time, especially in the heat of the midday sun when the flysheet resembled an oven and was usually full of flies by the time I had erected it.

I keep the bedroom pods insitu in all my tents, unless it's raining, then I do remove it, makes it easier to dry the tent.

Well, it went back into the bag just about with the inners attached. The pole set and front ground sheet wouldn't fit though so that's on top for now. Hopefully it will save us a bit of time on site.

Yep inners with the Calisto, but like you say not with the Corvus 5 + 2 for us either it is a very big tent and with 3 large bedroom pods too much of a squeeze.
