Oooooh and a blue cross sale on now! Do metal poles make a big difference??

Less likely to bend and snap
More stable
Far easier to thread and so pitch
BUT
Heavier
More expensive

We've just had our first weekend in our Kalahari 10 and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any family that will listen to us. To be honest I was gonna get the 8 but the bundle deal with porch/carpet/footprint was cheaper for the ten than the eight at Go Outdoors (go figure lol).

Brilliant living space and with the porch holding all the cooking stuff you can seriously spread out in the living area (great for kids if it's raining).

I've reviewed the Kalahari 10 and put a few pics up but best advice was given earlier in thread, head to go outdoors and wander around the tents, your tent will find you, feel the force lol

We ended up buying neither, went to go outdoors , felt the force & the prices for bundles and ended up going for this one:

Like the look of the Vango one bit it had tears and bits ripped everywhere, not great look for a display tent.

It was raining badly & windy when we went & It felt snug inside.
Just need the sunshine now!!

Glad you made your choice Stitches....

I am loth to give any input when a question such as yours comes up.....Sometimes the answers you receive just add to your initial confusion as to what piece of equipment to settle on....

I know that always happens to me when I post similar questions myself!!!

But for the record.....I used a Hi Gear Gobi 4 constantly (As in at least once a month) for about 3-4 years and it did me proud every time I used it...And it was only eventual wear and tear that made me move on...

Without appearing tent snobby....The only ones I would not touch are the ones from the likes of Halfords/Asda/Tesco etc which don't appear well made at all and seem to be aimed at first time buyers or very occasional users...

Enjoy your new tent....Now get off into the green stuff!!

Jelboy.
