Morning all,

Please could anyone advise whether they have a tent from this company. They seem really good and nice people to deal with, just wondering about actual quality.

Thanks.

I have a Task Force 3. It's very good quality and yes, they are a good company to deal with. There was some delay over my order and they were constantly in touch, keeping me up-to-date and offering alternatives if I couldn't wait.

Here's mine a couple of weeks ago.

I almost bought one of their tents, the same task force as Armchair Camper, but a 4. They sent me fabric samples as I couldn't decide whether to get the all season or not.

In the end I bought a Cabanon ridge tent (that I sold a couple of weeks ago). I would love a Task Force and if I do buy another ridge it will be one of those. My husband would kill me though , as we have bought a tipi of the same weight and that goes up in the same time as a ridge with a much bigger space.

I remember being a bit concerned about their returns policy (or lack of it) when I looked. It was almost like they thought that the distance selling regulations didn't apply to them. My worry was that if I received it and didn't like it they didn't publish that a return was acceptable (obviously in an unpitched state).

I got the impression that their standard tents were made to order generally, they definitely couldn't guarantee that they would have one available to look at (have family close by).

I still covet one .... but would arrange to view beforehand personally.

Hi,
I too would be interested to hear of any feedback. I am coveting a 5m ZIG Bell tent from BCT for shorter stays and weekends, as they seem to be the only bell tent manufacturer based in the north of the UK.

Actually being able to go to a venue and see these type of canvas tents pitched, so you can look round, feel the quality of the materials and manufacture, and make a properly informed decision, seems to be impossible if you live anywhere further north than the home counties. A shame that BCT don't appear to have any sort of show-room or display area.

So if anyone out there owns one of their tents, even if it is one of their scout troop ones, please can you let us know what you think?

I would phone them Christine. They were lovely to deal with on the phone. I too would want to see one, although Armchair Camper looks happy with hers .

Their bell tents look good don't they? I've got their bell tent canopy, thick top quality canvas ...no problems.

I realise that this is an old thread, but I am hoping someone may see my post.
I am considering the task force 4 (canvas fly) for all year solo camping around Wales, Scotland.
I did consider the TF3, but would prefer the stand-up height of the 4 even though it may be colder being used solo.
I have scoured the net and BCT website but cannot find images of someone next to the tent or camp chairs etc to give any perspective.
I would also like to know how easy/difficult it would be pitching/striking a TF 4 on My own, so if anyone has some advice......please. ;)

We almost bought the TF4 with extension in all weather fabric. We were sent a sample of the fabric and it looked great but it was the head height that did it for us. There is only standing room (just) at the apex of the roof.
There was a picture on one of the selling sites showing a family sitting outside their BCT. I will see if I can find it during lunch break.
As for pitching. I would think it is as simple as a force 10. Flusher first then zip on the extension and hang the inner or, in good weather, inner first suspended from A frame and drape the fly over.
In the end we bought an obelink Alaska.

Hi Ewen, many thanks for the reply. I had never heard of Obelink until today, and have just spent the last 2 hours browsing their UK website.
The Alaska is an awesome looking piece of kit !!!
As I will be solo camping in exposed mountainous/coastal regions,I think the TF4 would suit, i have read that like the F10, they are easy to pitch and virtually bombproof, though my concern would be the pitching and striking of the tent on my own, the TF4 is a lump at 18kg, the fly when wet would be quite a handful I imagine.
As long as I am able to stand up 5'10''ins to get my pants on the morning, I would be happy with the height (i think).
If I do go ahead with the TF4 I will be making adjustments to it in the form of a fly screen porch, specifically anti-midge, (was chewed to pieces at Rynys farm last year, the local midges there appeared to like Jungle formula !!!).
