Hi bear lake owners, please can you let me know if the poles twist out of the correct curved shape when pitching the tent. I currently have a vango equivalent and its driving me up the wall as as soon as you pick up the poles they all move out of alignment so the curve is lost and you have to start again. Any advice on pitching issues most gratefully received with the bear lakes before I purchase.

Thanks

Hi I have the bear lake 6, the poles have a shaped slot / end, when pushed together they will keep the curved shape and don't often slide apart.
To pitch I always do 1 pole at a time starting from the rear, holding it up with guylines. Heavy tent and a lot of pegging but rock solid once up

Might be worth mentioning the tent you currently have, just in case someone can advise accordingly (and successfully), to save replacing your current tent... unless of course, you are simply "looking for an excuse to buy a new tent"!!
Now, who would do a thing like that!

Thanks all, my current tent is a vango carrera pollycotton tent from 2010. The pole ends are round and not shaped so they twist out of shape. I guess I could slightly squash the ends in a vice but im not sure if that would affect the integrity of the poles strength. The tent itself is pretty robust and very similar to the classic trout lake series from outwell in construction so its not essential to replace it although I do like the extra room of the bear lakes.
