Afternoon, hopefully one you kind people can cheer me up today.
Juts purchased my first non cabanon cotton tent, as always wanted one and Second hand just put up in the garden to find two small holes in the roof. Images below
Any ideas what I should do with repair as no chance of taking back as my fault for not asking to check before hand and when you see used once, I was not expecting this so lesson learned.
Anyway, the tent is as new apart from these two holes, any advice on what to buy and yes I have soaked it for an hour as it looked like new and I always did this when I had other cotton tents. Cabanon never showed any sign of holes......
Help cheer me up and the holes did not shrink after a good hosing and some small drips came in.

yeah cut the peg bag into slightly larger squares than the holes and then with copydex glue stick that to cover them from the inside, do not use stitches as this produces yet more holes
Quickest and easiest fix is tenacious tape on both sides of fabric.
If you have a bag the same colour fabric you could sew on some patches, just make sure you seal the seams.
I think Tenacious tape is more for synthetic fabrics, isn't it? Have a look at the Isabella repair kits, they do one for windows and one for canvas, I believe.
What made you change from Cabanon to Outwell? Did you sell the Biscaya? Don't you find the Bear Lake more difficult to pitch?
I would say Tear Aid is the better if the two, it's stretchy so will always give without coming off, Tenacious Tape is not stretchy.
Storm Sure may be even better, as this gives a more invisible repair as there is no patch. The glue sets to just leave a bubble where repaired.

Sold it in 2012 as kids got tired of going. Was a fantastic piece of kit and thought of jumping for another but always had a soft spot for the bear lake.
We now miss going to our old sites right on the sands so we decided to get another tent to see if the bug is really back. If the bear holds up to the Welsh weather then I see no reason to buy another but not really got off to a good start.

When you say you bought it second hand, was this through a certain well known auction site or through a dealer. In either of these cases it may be worth speaking to the seller as they should have mentioned defects like this in the item description. It very much depends on the way the item was described. If it was a retailer then I would just return it, if it was the auction site you could raise a claim through the site.

Hi, cash buyer through eBay. Pulled the auction early to save fees so no returns. I feel better now thanks to the kind advice on this forum and will go with the storm seal option first, followed by the tear aid.
Apart from this blemish, the tent is almost brand new and clearly used once. Just need to get away now..........weather is cack
