Hi all
First time I have posted on here having lurked for a while.
We have recently purchased the Berghaus Air 8 from Millets and having test pitched in the garden were suitably impressed, however we are currently camping in Norfolk and the weather is very British, we woke up yesterday following heavy rain to find water around the base of all the beams and had also run into the sleeping compartment from one of the worst affected beams. We are absolutely gutted as have spent a lot of money on this tent and had high hopes. If it was just the one beam i would put it down to a dodgy seam etc.. But it appears to affect all of them.
I remember reading reviews for some other air beam tents with a similar problem, is there an easy fix or is it a case of back to Millets for a refund?
Cheers
Allan

We have exactly the same problem with our Outwell Corvette L so will be interested in any replies. I checked all along the lengths of the beams and could find no ingress so can only think that the water has come up through the groundsheet from downward pressure at the base of the beams.

I had the exact same problem with my Air 8, when we got home I set it up in the garden and removed the bedrooms, I left it up for 2 weeks in which time it was rained on 5 times, I checked after each shower had stopped and noticed the leaks become less and less until finally they stopped completely.

I think the bottom part of the tent (dark blue) may be a polycotton (?) material and it needs this weathering to get to its full weatherproof capabilties.

Hmm, I didn't think that the Air 8 was poly cotton but I stand to be corrected.
I contacted Outwell, they asked me to return the tent to the dealer, I did speak to the dealer who suggested weathering the tent. To be fair, it does seem to be improving and my OH is reluctant to return it. I can live with the wet patches but the only downside is that, being under the beams, they are impossible to dry until the tent is down.

I currently have exactly the same problem with my Kampa Filey 6 Air (which although polyester has been weathered in gentle rain previously).

Not impressed considering the tent is only 2 years old...

Any thoughts on condensation running down the poles from the roof. I had previously quite a bit of condensation in my Vango Airbeam and bought a little fan to circulate the air and never had an issue when we camped for 2 weeks this summer.

Ours got wet pitched in the garden empty. Would there still be condensation there with no one in it?

We always ensure the tent has plenty of ventilation - the Filey 6 air had the ability for you to open the side windows completely (kept dry under eyebrows).

Also, the pools of water were significant at the bottom of nearly every pole (but not quite all).

I've never had a condensation problem before in any other tent...

We are considering placing an upturned saucer or similar under the groundsheet at each beam base. If anyone has any other ideas please do share.
