I asked the salesman why all the Kampa Airbeam tents had pooling at the base of beams but non of the Vango tents did
He said it was condensation so I said why haven't any of the Vangos got any condensation then and he replied maybe the air vents haven't been opened on the Kampa tents yet
It was 9.30am when I was looking at the tents
I thought wouldn't you just leave all the vents open on all your tents all the time as they were just display tents
I wasn't quite buying that answer so it was a big 1-0 to the Vango tents in my opinion
Garry from Cross Camping reckons Vango tents are spot on
Yes that doesn't make sense about the vents to me either, I'm suspecting that the new airbeams have not only gone up in strength but that there has been something regarding the insulation of the beams that has addressed this issue from what I can gather this seems to be the air temperature in the beam versus the outside temperature causes the problem , but most people are saying it's only a problem during the rain as opposed to temperature fluctuations.
But I'm pleased you saw both and the vango wasn't pooling.
I do believe that Gary from cross camping is about the best source of information out there and would love to hear what experience he has had of the 2016 models .
Again many thanks Floyd
Hi
The Kampa air tents for 2016 on paper are just the same as 2015 but they are improved... everything is just that little bit better. We pitched 6 of their air tents and the first time it rained there was a little pooling at the base of the tubes. This was all down to the new mixed fibre thread they have used. This needs weathering like a poly cotton tent. The reason they have used this is its far better in the long term. The fibres swell and seal any stitch holes so if the seams tape starts to pull away in years to come (can happen to any tent) the seams will still be sealed far better than a fully man made fibre stitching. Anyway since that first soaking the Kampa tents have not had any pooling at the base of the tubes.

Hi Gary
Thanks for the reply is that the same for vango also as the tent I want is the vango eclipse 600 but I'm afraid to splash out if it's going to pool water at the bottom of the beams
Hi Luke, the first time we weathered our illusion 800 we had some water pooling at the base of some of the tubes. However over the weekend there was no water ingress. The tent got rained on, covered with mist and it was sat in very wet grass.
Hope this helps.
Hi is anyone else having issues with the new reflective guy ropes? We have a Rivendale 800xl. Adults and children are constantly tripping over them as they are just invisible. They can't be seen against the background at all and at night they don't seem to be reflective unless you are within a metre of them shining a light on them.
