I have the Vango Asante 500 and can certainly recommend it. We also have the canopy, which is why we didn't get the 600 version as we couldn't get the canopy anywhere.
I used the 500 at The Open Golf Championship up in Fife in July this year and it survived the first night in torrential rain with no leaks (golf was suspended the rain was so bad and the course flooded) and the second night and full day in 30-50mph winds (which cancelled as whole day of play at the golf).
We also used it for a week at the start of August in Wales in wind and rain and again it was fantastic, the quality is good and it has things like storm webbing straps front and back, the tent does not budge and with steel poles it is stable. The 6000mm hydrostatic head and quality of stitching also makes a big difference. The canopy is also good, we didn't bother taking it down in some pretty bad winds and it was fine, but the groundsheet for the canopy is a bit crap
We got ours from JR Leisure in Leicester (they had them on display in their showroom) and I've also posted on here about their fantastic after sales service as we got the Asante as a replacement for another tent we had issues with.
If you have any specific questions just ask.

Many thanks camperstoke for your time. Some great points and info. We've ordered from JRLeisure on the back on your comments, hopefully it arrives soon and we can get testing it out! Thanks again.
It's a great tent, it oozes quality even down to the tent bag (really thick and good quality with wheels) and pegs (long plastic T shaped great for soft ground but pretty tough as I used them to knock into a gravel all weather pick in Wales), you also get a nice mallet included!
Vango have some nice features in general like the Line-Lok on the guylines which makes tensioning a breeze and you hardly ever have to adjust them even after strong winds.
I hope you enjoy the tent but if you have any issues you have purchased from the right place, have a look at my post on here, just do a search for JR Leisure.
