Hi we have just bought a 1970's Lichfield Granada 3canvas tent and thought we would re proof it. We bought some Storms canvas proofed but on my test patch it seems to have left a residue, any advice on application. I have used a brush and tried to spray it on

Giving the tent a few good soakings with the garden hose and letting it dry in between,should have been all you needed.

Hi, yes, test it first by putting it up and soaking it with a hose ( or let the rain do it). Cotton threads swell when wet and close up the tiny holes in the weave, so a cotton canvas tent is naturally waterproof. Waterproofing treatment mainly gives a water repellent finish on the outside so that the main effect is that rain beads up and runs off rather than soaking in.
