Hi. at the moment we have got a outwell montana 6p which is great. just come back from 2 weeks in it. first time used this year.
was thinking are air tents better overall. are they so much quicker putting them up. ?
The last time we used tent. put it up in exactly 1 hour. but then you still have to peg out. put carpet in etc.. We are liking the Vango Taiga. that layout. but cant see anywhere that sell to have a look. we are in south yorkshire.
what are your views on air tents. ?
thanks
beth

My view is every year they are getting better and better in design and function. Saying that a good old steel framed tent like the Montana is still a great option.

We changed this year from a Kampa Holkham (like a Filey Classic, and so not that different to a Monty), to an inflatable.

We've had a few short trips earlier in the year and just come back from a longer summer trip.

We're very glad we made the switch; yes it takes the same time to peg out and 'furnish' but it is MUCH easier to put up and take down, and even more so with the electric pump. Whether this would have been the case had we gone for a different model, who knows. We certainly do not miss those poles.

The new tent including the awning is about the same size as the old tent, but it goes up (and gets bagged up) in two halves: tent and awning. This means no bag is particularly heavy.

Having looked at the current crop of inflatable tents, Karsten would still be the only make that I would consider.

Of course not everyone want's Heavy Cotton canvas, and Heavy Duty SiG, so it's horses for courses.

I have a kampa croyde 6 classic air and it is splendid. You are right that it doesn't have as many flashy bits and bobs as the comparable vango but we went for it as the layout was right for us and it is polycotton. No regrets after a long summer hol and we can't wait for our next trip.

Thanks for that
I really like the layout on the kampa and I have seen it
Unlike the vango taiga and outwell corvette xl which are no where to be seen.
Just go on pics with them.

Us too we have the Croyde and had two hols in it experienced heavy rain wind and very hot sunshine, pleased with layout, enclosed porch variations in the sleeping pod we have it as one large space.
Large windows so it is airy.

we did have a few loose threads everywhere when we first unpacked it, and it did leak on its practise pitch which was also 3 days of horizontal rain, but not since.

I would recommend it but if you look on some other posts the new ones for next year will be unveiled soon, so there might be deals to be had on this years models.

I would agree with this. I have heard so many complaints about air tents from exploding tubes, leaking tubes, leaks in the seams where the tubes are and even a leaking groundsheet, so like Windows 10 I think I will wait until all the bugs have been ironed out.

I think it is open, that is why we liked the Croyde it's enclosed and very large.

There are quite a few reviews of the tent and pics toolinky
