In the rain this weekend, our Kampa Filey 6 Air started to leak significantly along al of the inflatable tube seams, resulting in pools of water at the bottom of each inflatable tube. This wasn't just a few drops, this was large pools of water, which meant we had to pack up early and go home.
I had previously treated the seams with seam sealant and sprayed the outside with Fabsil so clearly this looks like a manufacturing problem (we've only had small rain showers in the past 2 years since we owned the tent so this is the first time the problem has come to light).
From reading the tent reviews on here it seems this is a common issue with the Filey 6 Air.
Camping world are kindly taking up the issue with Kampa - has anyone else had a similar experience? I'm expecting compensation from Kampa as I expect a £1200 tent to last longer than 2 years!!
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
We have a kampa filey 6 air and are currently on holiday in Dorset. From day one I've needed to inflate the main beam daily it lasts around 7 to 8 hrs. All isolators are off and I have checked for leaks. After checking the isolator valves for leaks with soapy water, taking the beam out inflating it and submerging in water no leaks were found. After refitting the tube and inflating the beam I hoped all was well but no the next morning it was very soft I've checked all round the beam and no leaks found.. I've wrapped ptfe tape around the threads etc on the valves and tightened them up but still it goes down. Has anyone got any ideas before I decide to leave the tent here in a skip very frustrated camper
Is this the first time you have used the tent, or is this a new issue that was not present before? Just wondering if there could be dirt in the external deflation point that is causing a poor seal and slow deflation.
Have you checked the condition of the interconnecting little grey tubes that join all the beams together. Some people had issues with cracks appearing in the rubber of these grey pipes on the Filey 6 Air. Having said that, I would have thought this issue would lead to more rapid deflation...
Is it just the one beam that keeps going down? The beams will be a bit softer in the morning due to the lower temperature.
The inflation valve should have a non return valve so air cannot come back out. Maybe the issue is there, perhaps a rubber seal inside has become unseated or something?
I've ordered a replacement inlet valve from kampa they are posting direct to site we're on 1st class should arrive tomorow.. Don't want to poke around until we receive replacement just in case it makes it worse. It stays up for about 8 hrs.

compensation?
its most likely to be condensation because its a polyester tent!
and polyester tents ( if you do your research before buying ) dont last very long - they suffer UV degradation - the fabric and threads break down and leaks begin then the tent disintegrates
why you think some folks insist on cotton and polycotton tents?
good luck with the compensation on a 2year old tent
do let us know how you get on with That!. we like a laugh on here!
