With regard to tarp corners with fabric loop only without eyelets, I would be inclined to put the fabric loop over the spike of the pole, and then put the loop of a guy or two over it.
When the guys are tightened and taut, the pole will pull the tent loop taut against the spike, and the guys will prevent the tent loop from becoming undone by the wind.
I prefer to attach a tarp to poles and guys via karabinas for ease of detachment and re-attachment, as it allow all the pegs and guys to be left in place for re-attachment later.
I had to quickly take down my 3.75m square last night as it got quite blowy. I just needed to loosen 4 guys, detach the guys from the karabinas, drop the ridge line pole one at a time to detach the tarp (I am only 5'2 and cannot reach the ridge line without a step or dropping the pole), and the whole thing was detached in no time.
