My wife and I are currently camping in our recently bought (2nd hand) evolution 600 tent. The problem is the orange cross pole doesn't want to stay on the pins. I'm wondering if there is a pole section missing but can't check until we break camp, but just wondered if anyone else has had an issue with it as I know from many years of camping that it's usually quite a job to get the poles on the pins and once on they usually stay put!

Are you sure the right pole to is in the right pole sleve?
Have you tensioned the strap attached to pin?
We use to have the 600dl, great tent loves ours, but we wanted pollycotton, and could not keep both.

Yes I'm not that stupid as they're colour coded lol, otherwise the two red poles wouldn't reach! We have camped for many years with other tents so we are quite used to putting up dome tents.
Hey Leeroy I truly appreciate you trying to help and I'm sorry if you felt my response was offensive, it was definitely not intended to offend. Please accept my sincere apologies.
Hmmm yes is sounds like you need to examine the pole. I once had a pole that suddenly got shorter in the sleeve and it was caused by a split ferrule so the pole sections has somehow slid past each other.
Yes, when we packed the tent away the number of sections either side of the coloured section are uneven so obviously the previous owner *forgot* to mention there had been a broken section. It would have been nice to know this before we went camping on a windy site in September but nevermind - we survived!
Thanks for your comments :-)

Bummer.... Do you have any way of getting back to the seller about it? ( e.g. If you paid via PayPal or have a protection scheme on card payments). A refund for the cost of the repair would seem reasonable.
It's fairly easy to buy replacement lengths of the correct diameter, then cut it to length and thread it with elastic. Various camping suppliers provide the spare lengths and threading kits. It's a bit fiddly but it will mean you have a functioning tent!
I bought it on eBay about 3 months ago, it's not worth the hassle tbh, especially as they threw in a footprint groundsheet and like a million extra pegs including storm pegs and a mallet, so I'll just get a replacement section and fix it myself 😊
Hi there Slingo. I have an evolution 600 it was last used about. 8 years ago. I have just got it back after loaning it to the scouts. It is fine but I missed out on giving them the poles so it hasn't been used. I have lost the poles but would like to use the tent ax it means a lot to me. It was used on the last holiday I had before my mother was hit by dementia. Could you give me some idea of the specification of the poles so I can look for either replacements or compatibles. Thanks. Andrew
I don't know to be honest, you might be better contacting Sunncamp to see if they can provide you with replacement poles, or the spec. I know you can buy replacement poles from Decathlon and Go outdoors. Sorry I can't be of more help than that.
