Hi....I'm Mike...2015 was my first year of camping.
I bought an Icarus 500 3 pole tent.
A great tent, the only problem I had was erecting it on my own, easy with 2 persons but impossible on my own.
...I am really too old to struggle.

So...I'm looking to buy an inflatable tent and I'm thinking the Airgo Cirrus 4.
At present it's £575 but I'm hoping it'll be a tad cheaper in March / April.
Anyone have any views on this or other inflatable tents ?

It is possible to put that tent up on your own.
We have the Isis 600 (same as the Icarus 600), and I am only 4'10" tall, and I can put it up myself. Just.

I use the Cross Camping method (there's a video somewhere), send the kids and husband away. Hope there's no one to hear me swearing, and I can just do it. Tricky if it's windy, but manageable.

So if you're not using the cross camping method, that might be worth a try first.

However, I entirely agree with your sentiment that life is too short to struggle, and I think our next weekend tent will probably be an inflatable!

This seems to be about the most asked question at the mo. I have put a few pics of our airbeam on this thread click here Its about the size and price you are looking for. Have to say there seems to be a lot of airbeams around nowadays to choose from.

To be fair choice of Tent is really down to the individual, but seeing as the OP has asked the question, I will give my take.

I have had a good look at the inflatable Tents around, my choice is slightly skewed as my canvas of choice is Heavy Cotton.

But it was a chance visit to a Karsten Tent display in Cheshire around 4 years back, that convinced me that the perfect inflatable Tent for me would indeed be a Karsten.

I can really appreciate the convenience that an inflatable Tent brings, I am 55 and I can see that there will be a time, when lugging 35kg of Steel Poles around will cease to be fun.

When that time comes, it will either be a brand new Karsten, or a used Caravan and going of cost, the Caravan will probably end up being the final choice.

cheers people...like I said with 2 persons erecting the tent it's a piece of cake as in the Cross camping method
...using 2 persons...easy peazy
Not so easy for me on my own....some can do it..I can't.

Probably one of the reasons that we have stuck with the Cabanon Biscaya 5 person Tent for the last 8 years is that it is very easy for just me on my own to pitch, even with the Mistral, trying it's best to thwart my efforts whilst pitching in the dark!

Francais we loved our Biscaya 440, but those poles with the knobbly bits just finished us off, OH hasn't got very good circulation in his hands so was practically unable to do more than one pole, which left me with the rest and it began to hurt so much we didn't look forward to putting it up anymore.

But still love the look etc of them, a Karsten tent we would have loved but just too expensive.

So we are more than happy with our Kampa Croyde and electric pump.

As we are going a little off track from The OP question. I stand to be corrected but the only other tent thats as easy to pitch as inflatables, is a Bell tent. Not everyones cup of tea but we love ours, and my darling wife can pitch that on her own. The 5metre one has loads of room for 2 people, but not so good for families IMO.

I had the same problem so I tried inflatables last year. Would recommend. I have the smaller Airgo Stratus 4 which I got in a sale last year with footprint for £279. Its plenty big enough for me and so easy to pitch. Just purchased an electric pump but the hand-pump provided is no problem.

Look at the vango Solaris or Capri still a couple off shop that have the 2015 model going cheapish

Thanks people...I've checked out the Airgo stratus 4.
Still available at £279 and at almost 4 metres long It is quite big enough for me, but at half the price of similar sized tents there has to be a big difference in quality.
...but does it matter ?
Are the airbeams not as good as the ones on the dearer tents? ....and again, does it matter ?

The best thing to do will be to go to a local store to you and see it pitched. If its indoors no worries just give it a good shake etc (don't go mad!) and check the stitching around where the groundsheet meets the fly and the seams etc. Webbing straps around pegging, all the points where a tent will take stress from weather/people inside. You will find that air tents with individual inflation points tend to be a fair bit cheaper than those with single inflation points also.

Another option you could check out is the Kampa Hayling 4 Air, i have sold these before for previous employers and they were always popular. Or another alternative would be the Royal Atlanta 4 Air which is new for 2016 and the Atlanta range have always been popular with the punters :)

Thanks for that...during my search the name "Kampa" came up and the Brean 4 Air looks very interesting.
A tad over 4 metres long x 3 metres wide, at less than £400 looks good and big enough for me.

My local dealer tells me that this tent was very popular last year and they'll have one erected in the coming weeks....so gonna view.

Anyone any experience with Kampa tents ?
