Has anyone got one of these?
I can't find this model in the tent reviews although the Vango Soul looks similar.
I am looking for a very lightweight ( around 2 kg). 2man tent but one that doesn't cost a fortune. It needs to be reasonably robust. I will be using it in wind and rain. The Vango Helix seems to fit the bill but it's quite cheap and I am wondering if the price has been achieved by compromising on quality. Is the ground sheet waterproof enough? Does it stand up to the wind and rain without leaking or collapsing?
I really hope that it would be a good buy, but has anyone used one and can let me know.
Thank you

looked at you tube review. i have the tempest 200, which from looking at the video of the helix is the same material on the groundsheet. its very deceptive. looks thin and unwaterproof....its WATERPROOF!! trust me it really is. the tempest has a seperate detachable section of the same material groundsheet. when this gets muddy/yucky i simply put it under a cold water tap to rinse and peg on out to dry. to test its waterproofness earlier today (i camped last night) i actually held it in a bucket sorta way under the tap. it works as a bucket!!!! no leaks, i had a "bag" of tap water lol. it seems to repel muck well (better than the thicker groundsheet style). dries quicker too.
I used to have the 300 and was pleased with the overall build quality and design features in terms of ventilation, ease of erecting, and storage pockets. The alloy poles give a good strength to weight ratio. The saving on weight and price is because the fabric is 70denier, so I wouldn't trust it in hurricane force winds when in exposed mountain regions, the fabric just would not stand up to that. But for general three season UK camping it was fine.

Thank you for the replys. I had seen the You Tube review and was a bit worried as he pointed out all sorts of things that he didn't like(small porch small door etc )
It's lovely to get feed back from people here. It's like get advise from friends! You know what you're talking about and have reassured me on several points.
Anyway I will go to Go Outdoors and see if they have the the Vango Soul on display. It is the same design, shape and dimensions so it will give me a good feel for the Helix.
Many Thanks
looked at specifications between my tempest and helix. materials and poles are the same. love my tempest.
one thing that i dislike was the light aluminium pegs that came with it. bend if you breathe on em lol! so i just replaced them with pegs from an old tent. apart from that acracking little tent. cosy, well ventilated, no condensation problems, dries fast on a clothes horse this time of year!
