Im looking at Air tents found a Vango Odyssey but It's description of the ground sheet didn't sound like it was sewn in. I've also been googling and looking for the Breton 500 air but without much luck. I really only have a few specifications. Maybe a tent I haven't considered? Im a newbie really to camping, and every year had a 2nd hand one off Ebay want to treat myself.

1. Being able to stand up in Living Area, tallest family member is 5ft10.
2. Inflatable
3. Sewn in groundsheet.
4. To fit a family of 3, so thinking of a 5 Berth for comfort?

Any recommendations? Ive bored myself on youtube and in my price bracket don't want to make a mistake.

How about this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Air-beam-Vango-Capri-500-XL-tent-/291713697233?hash=item43eb7dc5d1:g:JhsAAOSwu1VW7aru

I know you said you wanted new but you'd also be getting the carpet & footprint & all for £100 less than the price of the new 2016 tent on its own & it's only been used for 5 days...

Buying second hand tents can be a gamble. Manmade fabric is water proofed with a PU coating on the inside and the bonding between the two layers breaks down in UV light. So a tent only has about 20 weeks total life before it loses the waterproofing ( could happen in less time in strong sunlight). So it is important to find out approximately how many days the tent has been used.

Buying a new airtent and looking for a budget price may mean that cormers have been 'cut', in order to get it to market with the latest feature.

Beware that it might be 'cheap and cheerful' but disappoint.

Second hand is great, I used it but make sure the story stacks up. Buyer beware.

The Kampa Brean 4 is by far our best selling air tent of the size you are looking for, dead reliable and only £400. The Vango Capri 500 or 500xl are great also.

I found a local seller who had the Breton 500 air for sale for £300 on gumtree , im just busy unpacking and attempting it in my back garden as we speak. It looks big laid out Ive just come in for a coffee maybe the 8 min set up maybe nearer the hour for me as I cant work out the end of the pump bit. Glad to bd having a test run in the garden and not in the middle of a field with pro-campers being amused by my inability to put up a tent ... wish me luck carry on camping 😂

It looks good condition and the seller did have a new campervan so hoping his reasons for selling were geniune ... if its a success my next question is . Are the carpets a good idea to go with it ?

success, would post a photo but cant work out how to do it. Easy once I got the hang of it and did it on my own although would have been quicker with two. Had a full inspection and looks good thinking I might have bagged myself a bargain after all. It smells a bit smokey as tempted as I am to put a yankee candle in there .ha ha ) its a tent !!! ... got it all open up to air it a bit.

Carpets are great for adding warmth & comfort. But personally I think a footprint is more important - as well as protecting the tent groundsheet from stones etc... & giving a bit of extra insulation, it's a heck of a lot easier to clean the underneath of a groundsheet that doesn't have a tent attached to it!

If you can, go for both. If not, you could get the footprint & then look for a carpet that 'nearly' fits on ebay or Go Outdoors end of line reduced stock etc... Or you could even use a couple of picnic rugs.

i used to have the Breton air 500...

its a very good tent and has the 150D fabric together with a 5000mm hh - so a good spec.

but i found the living area space too small for me... so i sold it and bought an Outwell Torrance tent ( the 4 poles dont take me much longer to assemble + insert than pumping up the airbeams on the Breton ) ... everything else takes the same amount of time and effort!

if you can live with the living area, its a good tent you have there + reminds me of the cuteness of a wendy house when viewed from the front - window and door side by side! lol

what is your reason for getting inflatable.....this will increase the cost somewhat over comparable pole tents.

We bought an inflatable as i needed to pitch/strike with very limited time. So we have a Campa Brean which i am impressed with, and i have owned many, many tents and put up even more!
It only takes me 10 minutes to put up, and works like a tunnel tent, so easy to pre-peg and inflate.

the bedroom has a curtain between the bedrooms that you can zip open to make a huge 4 berth bedroom, and is quite comfy as a 3 man.

the mini canopy over the door is great to keep the worst of the rain out of the doorway, and the living area is sufficient for bad weather as long as you don't have much gear in there! I would say that we don't general need to live in the tent as we use this only when we are on Scout camps and the like, so its just a place to throw our kit and sleep (as we cant get the tin tent on site!)

the only trouble we have had with the Brean is that the pump was rubbish, and dies on every use. So I have replaced that with a decent pump and have now got an electric pump to try out on it when we next use it.

Ww too have a Kampa Brean 4 Air and love it but like Jasie says the pump is cr*p. Ours broke on the first use so we replaced it with another.
