Dk 168 doesn't have a De Waard tent like the one in your picture above lidds0, she as an Esvo Bedouin tent.
Don't all the vario canopies for pyramid tents work on the same principal? I thought it was their flexible arrangement options which contributed to their name? I was under the impression they could have the front lowered in poor weather, instead of removing them completely?

Lidds
The Karsten vario awning works like the De Waard one in your diagram too, not sure about the ESVO's as not to familiar with them.

I've had a 3m by 3m tarp rip Delta's out in high wind. It was bad judgement to pitch the tarp at that time but fortunately the small tent next to it was solid held down by MSR Groundhogs & our weight. Delta's are useful to have in the peg armoury but not a talisman especially with large surface areas of fabric.

Ok, Sorry I didn't know that the front of your Bedouin was the same as the De Waard.
Sounds like you made the right decision to come home though

After the hurried pack up, I just bundled and pushed the tent into the back of my car (I went home first to empty the car of provisions etc.), and the bulk of the tent was a major concern as it was not easy to carry.
Dragged it into the house using the cheapo tarp for protection, so that it could dry in the lounge.
I bought some compression straps and managed to reduce the bulk considerably. The straps make it easier for the packed tent to be carried too.
I cannot put the tent back into its bag, not easy when it is a tube that opens at one end with drawstring.
I have ordered a custom bag from Bags For Everything, that is bigger, rectangular with a zip at the top and handles. Hopefully, it should make packing up the tent easier.
Off to CTS tomorrow with the tent so that James can arrange for it to be picked up by the folks from Karsten to take it to ESVO for repair.
Next job - tidy the garage so that I can dry the tent in there if and when required.

DK, it's no worse than you've had with the Escala; just cost more.
With James and ESVO on your side I'm sure all will be fine.
In the meantime good luck with clearing out the garage.
