I already own a couple of tents - an Outwell Arizona L and a Vango Colorado 400.
I need something smaller for a couple of nights and saw this one advertised locally - a Lichfield Salamander 240 which has hardly been used but am guessing is quite old as made in Walsall and can find little about it on a search engine.
I was hoping someone on here had owned one in the past who could tell me a little more - dimensions, weight (very important), how easy to pitch and just general reviews.
How will it compare to a Vango/Outwell?

Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
Yeah it's not in the reviews section on here and a swift Google search indicates it was out in the late 90s. Lichfield are the cheap n cheerful cousin of Vango so it will be a very " no frills" model, compared to a similar Vango tunnel like the Beta range.
I can only find an imperial weight of 15lb for it. It's price was £99 new, so I would say
1) it depends what price it is being offered for
2) ask the seller how many nights is was used as sunlight exposure degrades the waterproofing bond in the material very quickly; the total life of a nylon PU coated tent can be only 20 weeks.
Personally, I would not pay more than £30 for it. If the seller wants more than that you would get better value for your dosh by buying something new. There are plenty of tunnel tents like this on offer.
I'm probably a bit late but I've got a salamander 240 tunnel tent I brought back in 1999 I think and have used it about 5 times a year ever since. It's a great all rounder, spacious, hard-wearing and fairly light weight. I've got it up and airing at the mo so let me know if you still need any of specs of the tent.
And as mentioned above I wouldn't pay much for a second hand one as they are fairly old now and basic now compared to the newer version.
