Hi, me and my girlfriend would like to start going outdoors a bit. We need a 2 or preferably 4 person tent and some basic information about camping in Scotland (it's wild, cold and humid but beautiful). I have small car, some experience from when i was a child (my parents used to takes us every weekend to camping sites around Poland - first with tents, later on with Camper).
Budget for tent is £150, would be great if there is anything with 2 bedrooms for 4 persons. Total budged is 250, I need some lights, gas cooker, clothes end other stuff.

I would recommend one of the Vango tunnel tents, as they have stabilising tension bands inside which keep the hoops steady in windy conditions. I would think that cheaper tents from places like Argos or Halfords won't stand up to Scottish weather.
The other things not to skimp on ar your beds and sleeping bags, because poor sleep will spoil a holiday for sure. And get a reliable stove too, gas safety is important.
All the other things( lights, clothes, plates/ cups, chairs etc) can be got cheaply at Poundland or similar shops. When I first camped I took cooking pots from home, and over several years I gradually bought proper camping pans etc.
Dont buy a two berth if there are two of you you need a three man tent.
My son has just bought a two berth from go outdoors . Excellent quality and value but he said the same you need slightly bigger.

Thanks guys for all your help :)
So I'll go for Vango tent for me and my girlfriend. I don't know much about what to check and what should be there so I'll get brand new one.
Probably will get one from foggers post.
Need some info about beds, and stove. In Poland we used cheapest air mattress and blankets, but nights there are usually warm and it's raining few times during summer.
I looked for stove but I found only cheap ones online and reviews are better when price is cheaper.
We will need some lights as well, I have plenty AA rechargeable batteries and car charger for them so I'll pick up two lanterns from Amazon that use them.
After being tent will have about £130 for beds, stove and other basic equipment.

Please send me email on t at tracz.me with some info about what you have. It's near my limit but Newcastle is not that far from Edinburgh and I like views there. I have some nice photos from this city though spend there only one afternoon.

That's because the cheap ones are sold more, I wouldn't necessarily go by reviews. Choose the style you want first based on the type of cooking you prefer.
I prefer one pot meals and heating up food I already cooked. So a single burner with small cannister does for me.
