Hi, on our last camping trip the pole for the side porch on out Montana 6 broke (it was a bit bent and have a feeling my husband tried to straighten it although he hasn't admitted it!). From what I have read this is a common problem with this tent as the pole was slightly too long.
My model is 2009 so I think its unlikely I'll be able to get a replacement from Outwell. There are some Ebayers who sell replacement poles for Outwell tents for about £30 per pole. However you can also get generic fibreglass poles in different lengths for a lot cheaper, so I am wondering if this would do?
We don't use the side porch as an entrance, it's just used to store the loo, so it just needs to be strong enough to keep the porch the right shape if you know what I mean. Also considering the age of our tent I am reluctant to spend a lot of money on a new pole....
Has anyone else tried this solution?

Outwell Montana 6 porch pole. After the high winds last night our porch pole (eyebrow!) snapped at the joining piece. I don't expect to find a spare but it should not be too hard to find a piece of aluminium tube and bend it. However, that is time consuming so this is a request for other solutions people have tried. Thank you responders!

Good luck getting a reply.
2 weeks ago I took my Montana 12 camping and used the 9mm fibreglass poles from a tunnel shaped tent. They did the job perfectly. I didn't know the Montana porch pole was metal.
6 Aluminium rods linked with short straights and angles. I think this is a Vango idea they tried. The porch is the part we use the least yet it went first. Will try the fibreglass idea.
