Hi guys
Spent 4 days in fairly wet weather, our current tent is decent but I'm in need of an upgrade. We currently have a Vango EOS 450.
Requirements
Sleep 2 comfortably with a sleeping bag large enough to take a double outwell posada bed.
Have an area adequate for cooking in I.e porch or extension.
Be tall enough to stand in

Any suggestions would be great guys. Really want an area to be able to cook in when the weather turns.

A tent is very flammable I would recommend not cooking when the weather turns bad. The main problem is if the tent ignites then whoever is inside won't have a safe exit. I keep the stove indoors but tend to carry it out (only a single burner) to cook on it. In bad weather I'd not really risk anything more than making a cuppa (and well away from the sides) and it's always a good excuse to go to the pub for a meal or a takeaway.

You can create a cooking area away from the tent by using either a canopied windbreak or use a tarp with poles.

Some tarp ideas

I cook in the extension of ours. Only with the doors open and well away from the fabric, but it is sheltered from the elements whilst not within the main tent. A large porch or extension is one of my number one requirements on my tent shopping expedition this afternoon!

If you like Vango, they have the Anteus 600model available through Go Outdoors. It's got a front awning so you can cook in shelter outside, and when I saw one at their Wakefield store I liked the airiness with the big windows. Here

Thanks guys I have my eye on the Outwell Nevada MP with the extension. I think this will bring the luxury and space that I want. But I will check the Vango out as I love our current one.

I have had tunnel tents with separate extensions and it does bring extra faffing around. If I got a tunnel again I would get one with a built on awning front. Our pyramid tent has one and it is soooooo useful.

What about the Kampa Hayling 4? Thats got a built in canopy/porch, and you can buy the bit to zip on the front to enclose it.
