Ok so I was originally looking at bell tents but think now we have decided we are mostly going to be using the tent for weekends I'm looking at a air tent polyester.
With all the talk of new upgraded beams and better beam sleeves for 2016 tents can we make a list of tents that have been fully updated and are much better than last years? Also any other known faults like beam pooling inside the tent. I've heard Gary from Cross Camping mention that 3 Vango models have had updated thicker beams and I've heard others saying Outwell have got there act together but with so many different models available from each company thought it a good idea to list ones that are 2016 upgraded, mainly big upgrades not just the odd vent or colour change.
Sorry for being the bringer off bad news the illusion had a bad batch ( see older subject) which have let them to withdraw them from the market at the moments that has then let to that the rhapsody selling out alot off places
All I can tell you is,we have a Bell and an Airbeam, and IMO the Bell is quicker and easier to pitch. Not by much but definitely faster. Although we do only have the hand pumps for the airbeams. Electric pumps might speed it up a bit.
What I can tell you is 2016 is the first year we have not had a single airbeam issue re splitting tubes, exploding tubes etc. Every year the cases of this has reduced and last year we had very few. This year none. The brands we stock and display all summer for 2016 are Vango, Kampa, Outdoor Rev and Zempire. I cannot comment re any other brands for 2016.

That's maybe due to the fact that nobody has ventured out much yet, due to the rubbish weather we've been having?!
I'm not sure I'd like to base my tent-choice on the 'best of a bad bunch' (to quote the phrase used by the OP)!
