I've just returned from a camping trip with my new Edoras 500xl. Great tent that I easily put up on my own. However the covered front area just wasn't quite big enough - I was still getting wet whilst cooking, wasn't quite big enough to stay dry whilst eating etc.

I'm now contemplating getting the additional front awning for cooking area, plus somewhere to put a pup tent overnight or store the bikes. I'm really worried about the size of it though - Vango list it as being 245cm long, so when added to the Edoras the tent will be just shy of 9m long!!

Is this just too big? Will I struggle with pitch sizes?
Are there any other front awnings I could use? Why would Vango make it to be so enormous?!!

Really struggling with my decision here so if anyone has any thoughts or experience of the tent and awning, that'd be great!

If you decide to get one get it now, the zip fitting is changing for 2017 so next year's awning will not fit your tent.

We've got the front awning for our Edoras 500xl - it's easy to attached and erect and adds loads of usable space to the front of the tent.

As Vango say, it's mean't to be 895cm with the awning on but didn't seem that bad when we pitched 2 weeks ago.

Well worth it.

That's my only gripe with this tent (same with the Oasis 6 we used to use) - the canopy would be so much more useful being a little bigger (maybe 1.5m or 1.75m compared to the 1.3m it is.) I don't want the extra cost, weight or size of the full awning but the sun canopy would have been good but it's only available for the 600xl. I've now bought a 3x3m tarp to use next year.

Hi Gary,
How will it differ for 2017? Will it zip all the way round?

Ok so we bought the Edoras 5 XL but now looking for an extension BUT is there a difference between the extension and porch or are they both the same.

Kind regards
Andy
