I have camped for 10 years now. All my tents have been. Fibeglass poles. Tents have to be erected correctly and wind direction, even steel poles tents will buckle and break if pitched incorrectly in high winds. A couple next to me one year, poles snapped on high winds, mine didn't, it was pitched incorrectly and all guy lines were mot pegged, because they didn't bother pegging them all out and I told them so, politely. MY main two tents have been tunnel tents as they are the best to cope with high winds, if pitched incorrectly or wind hits side on, you will gave problems. Like with any other tents.
