Hi thinking of getting an inflatable tent 5 berth. What's a good make to go for and are they any good

Welcome Kiki

Used to have a Kampa Southwold 4+2 and the 8 but to be honest, they all seem to have developed issues in the past. There are opinions on here that the technology has improved with Outwell leading the way still, Karsten are the very best, will last you a lifetime and hold their secondhand value well. Take a look at the Karsten Klub forum for further info but if you are going to choose one of the other brands then I would suggest you go for a polycotton fabric instead of polyester.

We have the Kampa Croyde Classic Air sleeps 6.

We love it and we have the polycotton mix, they do come in polyester too.

Please read the reviews for all the Air tents which will help you decide.

Yep as mentioned, the only inflatable tent worth going for is the Karsten, all the rest I am afraid are toys in comparison.

You only have to look at the pressure used in the tubes, to come to the above conclusion, and that's just for starters.

Thanks for your input folks. I've been looking at the kampa range I'll check out Karsten next. I've just sent back a skandika tunnel tent cos the steel poles bent after one windy night hence looking at alternatives

We have camped in the Croyde in 45 miles an hour winds twice with no damage you do need to waterproof them first.

Agree with Francais Karsten are the best, but expensive, and we just couldn't afford one.

We too have a Kampa Croyde Classic air tent and we love it, for the money I would definitely recommend it, we are a family of four.
