Can I pick your collective brains on this one?

I need a weekend with a decent amount of living space for 2, sometimes 3 that I can put up and take down myself. It's either me with my 4 year old, or if my partner comes, he's off setting up for a sports event so it's still me putting the tent up.

I've got the lovely canvas storm tent but I need something quicker for overnighters/sports trips.

I need 4 berth, and a sewn in groundsheet, with the least amount of flappyness. I'm tempted by a hi gear gobi being sold locally but I'm also being tempted by polycotton tunnel tents on marktplaats...

Do you have any suggestions?

The very popular Vango Icarus/Iris 500 is a decent size for 3 and can be put up solo.

Polycotton tents can be a bit of a handful due to weight.Have you looked at inflatables? Airgo tents at go outdoors do some nice 4-berths and they are easy to put up single-handed (other makes are available) Sunncamp Breton air? Its all about the money though

4m Polycotton Bell Tent?

The one I have is out of stock now, and probably won't be in until next year (at least that's what happened last season) but mine is a 10T Desert 8 from Amazon UK although the shop behind Amazon is called Spreen Online. The benefit of polycotton is a slightly lighter pack weight and quicker drying time. The polycotton could easily be mistaken for canvas, it's less 'poly' and more 'cotton'.

I go camping by myself. It's a doddle to put up.

An option perhaps!

I would second Campernic's suggestion of a 4m polycotton bell tent. We have the 10T Desert 8 too and it is fantastic value for money - you can buy it here (keep an eye out for when it comes back in stock). I use it when going away by myself with a 5 and 6 year old but we had 6 people sleeping in it a couple of weeks ago (that was very snug!).

They are tempting but they are a bit over budget. I've been trying to weigh up a Hi Gear Gobi 4 vs an Outwell Pasedena 5. I would normally lean towards the outwell but I think it was a go outdoors and the hydrostatic head is actually less. It's a tunnel which may be easier to put up alone but I've always liked the semi geodesic style....

In my collection of tents, I have one of these.

Really easy to put up on your own.

I like that 1man, and they are certainly very reasonably priced. I would like to be able to stand up in it though...

That is the downside. My full height tents are a Hi Gear Rock 5, and a Lugano 6.

If you were tempted by the 10T bell tent they are back in stock now. Approx £250 delivered (depending on the exchange rate offered by your card).

You could probably get that amount back for it if you didn't like it and sold it on

Edit: Spreen are selling one on EBay for £236 free delivery! That is a total bargain.
