Hello

Enquiring for a friend really. We've just been camping together. She's got a brand new Rivendale and I have our Vango Inspire from last year. Both great airbeam tents, but when it came to packing away we have a robust, wheeled bag and they just had this flimsy, floppy, flappy thing with a zip.

They really struggled to get their tent back in the bag - it clearly isn't fit for the purpose of transporting and storing such a large expensive tent. Despite only having it out of the bag twice the bag has already got a small hole in it. The material is very, very poor.

Has anyone got any experience of this? Obviously, best case scenario would be to get a decent bag out of Vango?

Thanks
Linny

When my Rhapsody 800xl was delivered I was very disappointed to find a bag very similar to the one you describe, albeit without a zip - mine just has a draw-string on top and clips around the side.

I admit to not doing much research on the bag, but when you're told by a senior member of staff at a large camping store that the brown box containing the last tent is in a wheeled bag, then you believe them.

Had I, in the end, actually bought the tent from them, then I would have complained directly - but I didn't. I didn't ask the retailer I purchased from and it was ordered blind over the phone, delivered a few days later.

I've used the tent three times now and I really think the bag lets the tent down. A £1500 tent deserves something a lot sturdier, if only to protect the tent. Something stronger, with wheels and a handle - imagine a wheeled suitcase - would, in my opinion, make it so much easier to move around its 46kg.

Mine's travelling in a wooden trailer and I fear it's just a matter of time before I damage it moving it in or out. I have to do it on my own and it's size and weight mean it's dragged, more than lifted.

We haven't had any problems packing the tent into the bag. It's just the tent, though. The pump and pegs haven't been in the bag since it was delivered. :)

Our bag for the Inspire is fantastic - chunky wheels, robust handles - we easily get everything back in, including the pump with room to spare. The difference between the 2 was marked. Friend not happy!

i find i get my Rivendale back in the bag with room to spare, i use this sort of cam straps after I have rolled the tent to stop it expanding and putting pressure on the very cheap bag material and zip
