Hi we picked up a secondhand Filey 5 air today, was assured it was in great condition no problems at all but no space to unpack it. Unfortunately this was not the case, the tent is filthy, the carpet was covered in mud and black mould, the bedrooms are dirty and it looks like a bird has been inside and poo'd in it 😫😷😥 Plus to top it off one of the airbeams leaks air as the hose to the valve on the outside has totally split.

We bought it from someone quite far away or would have taken it straight back. I'm gutted but trying to make the best of it and clean it up as best I can. I knew the beams were replaceable so didn't think it would be a problem, but now I can't find replacements anywhere online.

So firstly with the hose perished does that mean the whole beam needs replacing? Where can I find one? And how much is it likely to be?

Secondly can bedroom pods be washed? It's too big for a normal machine, but maybe at a launderette? Or hand wash in a paddling pool? I'm sure we won't get the stains out but at least it would be clean and smell fresh.

TIA

Oh dear, how disappointing and horrible for you. It's maybe worth contacting the seller to see what they have to say?

Yes, you can wash the inners. Just do a second rinse cycle to get all the detergent out.

I hope you get the rest of it sorted and didn't pay the scumbag seller too much money.

I'm kicking myself, it was on eBay for 400 but didn't sell and I offered him 350 privately. If I'd payed the 400 I could have had some come back through eBay maybe. On messages he sounded really nice and initially was very reluctant to sell for less. I wonder if they were kicked off site and the tent was left open for sometime, it's the only thing that makes sense. My husband said they looked a bit 'pikey' and alarm bells should have rung when he saw them and where they lived. He opened up the tent bag and from the outside it looked fine and didn't smell of damp so thought it would be ok. You wouldn't think anyone would get mud literally all over the carpet. I've put that on hand was twice in the machine, it's now just the black mould we won't get out. The inner is too big for the machine unfortunately. I'm torn between launderette and paddling pool in the garden, could be really work though as 3 sections.

I really need to get the pole sorted!

It's such a nice tent though and the size and layout is perfect for our needs! Just a shame is wasn't treated better 😞

Just in case anyone else has a problem with a kampa airbeam, I phoned them up today and explained I had no warranty and bought secondhand. They are sending me a new beam plus spares for free 😍

Also I scrubbed the carpet with vanish and hosed it off and it now looks really good. The inners were gross 😷 4 lots of dirty water and scrubbing and they are out on the line. Some mildew on the Zips still, but hopefully now clean

How annoying, I'm glad it all is sorting it's self out. If you can it'll be a bargain. I would be tempted to send the inners to the laundrette.

Glad you are getting helped out by Kampa, they are a really great company in my experience. I was going to suggest that i could contact them for you but you are obviously fine on that front.

You paddling pool idea for the inners is a good one and i would say put some milton in the water to really clean through any excess hanging on in the fabric and you could use a firm old toothbrush to use on the zips and runners. Just be sure that its all rinsed through well with just plain water afterwards.
