Hi all , we are in the market for a new tent.
I have been looking for the past six months actually.
The Tents in question are the Vango Illusion 800 2016
and the Outwell Vermont 7 SA.
Now everywhere i have looked online has mostly sold out!
Now do i wait until the new 2017 models come out ?
I am super impressed by the Illusions 420D Ripstop compared with the 150 D of the Vermont
I have seen all the reviews on here and you tube ect etc!!
I am very interested to see what you guys think? or any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks guys John..

I wouldn't wait as it's likely the prices will go up a bit and things the designs don't change significantly enough to warrant taking the risk.
You'd be better to hunt down the tent you want now and purchase at the current prices.
I spoke to someone in the trade who said the Illusion would be around £1300 this time. Illusion has 2 small slatted windows in the roof of the front canopy either side. And he said they were on about fitting the zip of the front canopy all the way round the edge instead of just on top !and will be launched in November! so that`s the changes for 2017. As for Outwell i think he said he was going this week or next to Denmark. Thanks for your advice Campernic
You'll struggle to get the Illusion this year because of the problems with the airbeams - any that were any good have sold out, and some of those waiting for replacements are having to wait for 2017 stock.
That might have put some pressure on the Vermont stock availability but there are some around - not necessarily that cheap if there is a shortage. It tends to be the stuff that there is a lot of stock floating about that goes cheapest.
In terms of which - have looked at both (friends have the Illusion, we looked at the pole version of the Vermont before deciding it was too big and went for the Kampa Croyde instead). If I was choosing between them it would probably come down to the way I wanted to use the bedrooms. For us the pack size on both of the air versions was way too much hence looking at the pole version. The Vango is a big beast when packed up and by the looks of it the Vermont is worse.

We have bitten the bullet and bought a Outwell Phoenix 7 ATC. Huge Carry bag we got the footprint and carpet too. A tent trolley is a must for this tent. (Which we have) I shall let you know the downs and ups if any once pitched etc.
