Hi,
I recntly bought a befghaus air 4 tent and love it, however the storm hood is a complete pain to set up and i cant help but feel im doing something wrong (and the fact that 2 sets of poles have split seems to support this belief). The tent came with very simple instructions just assemble the pole, slip it through the canvas and secure with the velcro pole holders....which seems fine except you have to apply an awful lot of pressure to the poles to them anywhere near the velcro pole holders. I've now started un pegging the tent and pushing the air beams in until i get it fit. I checked numerous reviews before buying the tent and this was never mentioned and the youtube videos ive found conveniently dont show the storm hood being fitted. Has anyone else got one of these and discovered the knack of getting the storm hood up easily ?
Like i say, great tent otherwise but the storm hood is really painful. I even tried just doing without it but the constant flappjng throughout the night put paid to that idea. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as im on my 3rd set of storm hood poles (previous 2 split) and whilst millets have been very understanding i fear this might be my last set and the tent will become unusable without them.

I brokemine (at the slightly bent part) on first use trying to put (force?) it into those velcro holes. I wondered if tent went up a wee bit wonky perhaps (rough ground) so might try putting it in before inflating next time. Did you have any joy?
I did wonder about pole first, havent tried it as i dont think the poles will hold in place and im pretty sure they'll flick out at the first sign of movement, but might give this a go as i seem to have tried most other things.
I know its sounds terrible claire but its nice to know someone else has had problems !!...i was begining to think id gone mad...as i say not one mention of this on any review.
Anyway ive got my 3rd set of poles now (so congratulations to millets on that !)...might get out somewhere this week...i'll let you know if the poles first idea works

I know what you mean. I was googling for someone else with same issue so I was glad to find someone! I bought my tent in January from Blacks so hope they can sort a new set of poles as happily as Millets but I have made my last trip of season now (my other tent is a much smaller but very cool pop up). The only other solution I could see is to add the air porch as it looks from the pictures to join on the rain hood entrance.
I do love how easy it is to put up the tent alone though- I camp with 2 small girls so pole tents leave me sweaty and frustrated as they are no help!
