Ok, not sure if I need to post here or classifieds? Mods/Admins please remove or place in the right section.

I have a 2016 Vango Illusion 800 with front inflatable porch, footprint ground sheet, carpet and skyliner.

Front porch is brand new, in the bag, never used as this was a replacement for our original one.

Tent went back to Vango and was completely re water proofed and has not been used since (Late August).

New beams under warranty yet to be fitted.

The set up was used 3 times, May, July and August last year.

The toggle upon which one of the bedroom copartment attaches to needs to be reattached (seems a fairly common problem).

Apart from that, the tent is in good condition and we are looking to sell owing to a change of plans for holidaying.

To buy new this little lot would be in excess £1500 or so.

What could we realistically expect to achieve when we sell?

£1800 brand new, so half of that, £900 then the fact you have used it 2-3 times, so how many nights in total? 2-3 or 14 x 3? I would say if I was looking for one about £700 would have been the max figure I would be paying for what is a secondhand tent

So, a re-cap...

A tent that obviously leaked, has gone back and been re-proofed... but not subsequently tested against leaks.
A front porch, brand new and still in the bag... but as it was a direct replacement for what I presume was a faulty porch, and remains untried, what's to say it won't have the same fault as the original?
New beams yet to be fitted, so presumably replacements for faulty originals? Whats to say, again, that they wouldn't suffer the same fault as the originals?
A toggle that needs reattaching? I presume that means re-stitching? Could an amateur do that without running the risk of leaving holes in the flysheet, and risking leaks?

Buying all that new, from a dealer, one would expect replacements and/or refunds if faulty, as it appears you have done. Could you offer that same service, if your buyer had similar problems?
Would the warranty on the air beams be passed to the new buyer, or does that get cancelled once sold on by the original buyer (you)?

Without wishing to sound rude, I don't think I'd even go as far as checking out your selling price, as the description alone would be enough to get me looking elsewhere, and giving your tent a wide berth.

Without fitting those new beams, stitching the toggle on, then giving the whole lot a bloody could trial run, including a thorough soaking or two, I think you'd do well to sell it, regardless of the price.

Even at £300, if the buyer get's a dud, without any recourse back to you, the seller (as it would be used/bought as seen!) they wouldn't have a bargain, they'd have a £300 white elephant!

I do hope that doesn't come across as sounding as rude as I fear!

I guess the next post will be I need to pay someone to have it.

As for not testing it, it was tested by Vango at their UK facility.

I don't see you as rude, deludsional but not rude.

With respect, djespie1, were you happy with their testing before it hit the store in the first place (presuming it went through some sort of Quality control, of course)?
Why did the brand new tent have to go back to be re-waterproofed?
Why did the beams need replacing?
Why did the porch need replacing?
Was you heavy handed with the bedroom toggle, or was it poorly fitted at source?

You are selling an inflatable tent with an add-on porch. You hint at previous problems with the fly sheet of the tent, the air beams, and the add-on porch, but apart from that, "the tent is in good condition". I'm not sure there is much left of the tent if you take away the (originally) faulty bits!
Whilst one would expect all matters to now be put right, as a buyer of new from a shop, the buyer would have some protection. Not being au fait with the used market myself, would you be in a position to put matters right, if your buyer subsequently had similar, major problems, as you appear to have had? If you're offering "a full refund if not entirely satisfied", then I'm sure you'd have no problem selling, nor getting a good price for it.

As it stands, it looks as if the tent flysheet may (still) leak, and that the airbeams may leak air/collapse in the night/fail to inflate. Plus there was an, as yet non-described problem with the porch. Any potential buyer would need to be an extreme optimist to have any confidence at this stage.

State in your advert that it has been fully erected and tested and is fully waterproof/no signs of any leaks, and that the air beams are fitted correctly and are fault free (I've no idea what the original problem was, but I guess there was one, as you had need to get a replacement set... unless they were a complimentary (spare) set as some sort of compensation deal, and the originals are still ok? ) and at least then any potential buyer would possibly have some comeback if it was subsequently proven to be "not as described".

Like I say, I don't mean this to come across as rude... or delusional for that matter... and I genuinely wish you well, when you do settle on a price, and put it up for sale.
I was merely trying to point out, from a personal point of view, and from a potential buyers point of view, why I wouldn't put a bid in, as it stands.

Good luck.

Good luck with selling it but I would agree with Mucker, from the description of it if I saw that advertised for sale my first reaction would be to move on to the next ad no matter what the price was.

When I bought my Mojave 5 a few years ago I paid around a third of the price it was bought for and it had only ever been erected twice in a garden to be tested for leaks and problems and had never been used to camp in.

You've asked for opinions regarding value. So far, 115 people have viewed this post but only 3 have offered a reply. Mucker has not just given his opinion but has q uantified that opinion (which I wholeheartedly agree with). Your response is to call him delusional?

You've clearly had some major problems with this tent. You've also clearly agreed for repair by Vango (with replacement of the front porch). Personally, on a new tent of that value, I'd have insisted on replacement or refund. I'm guessing you're now hoping to recoup as much of your outlay as is possible? The thing is, your honesty - and that's most certainly in your favour - does highlight the significant issues (past and, potentially, future) with this tent. I reckon you should ask yourself what you'd be willing to pay on what is essentially a gamble, with little or no recourse if it's still problematic (or proves to be so prior to the expected lifespan of a tent of this sort).

As with all used camping item, it's value is what someone is willing to pay. Given the history and implications for risk, I'd say not much. Sorry if that offends but it's my genuine opinion. As previously stated though, I do applaud your honesty. It'd be horrible for a buyer if they purchased unawares and then experienced issues which were known to you, so your being up-front is commendable.

Can I just ask, did Vango not offer you a straight replacement tent or refund when the faults were confirmed?

Just my thought on the one of the issues. Many tents get sent back with leaking only for them to be given the advice "condensation" so would this fall into this category I wonder.

Price. Having sold a few. I never get what I would like. My view would be watch on ebay for others.
Reasonable condition I think somewhere about a third and if lucky half of new price.
