My tent does not have zips holding the bottom of the doors in place, just a silly bit of Velcro in the middle. Whats the best solution so that I can stop the door flapping about in the wind ? Sticky Velcro wont stick to polyester tents, thought about stitching it and then applying some seam seal to the stitching ? Will this work ? Any ideas please

"Clingon's"...

Pro's:
Super solid, super sturdy. Not a flap in sight (Trust me, it was very, very windy!)

Con's:
Must have side door to use in it's stead!   (Not a con for us, as we only used the side door anyway! )

They look great, Mucker. However, both my front door and my side door need de-flapping ! Although looking at that, I suppose it is possible to hook the elastic bits onto a tent peg whilst inside the tent, and maybe just have 2 clips so we can still escape out of one side of a door if nature calls in the night.....

It is annoying isn't it! My last tent had fly netting on both doors which zipped all round with a waterproof bit at the bottom. The outer door still just had a silly bit of velcro but that didn't matter since the tent was effectively sealed with the fly netting.

The tent I have now only has fly netting on one door and that is the sloping side door which I don't use. The small front door has no netting and one short bit of velcro in the middle to hold it down. What is the point of having a sewn in groundsheet to keep the draughts and vermin out then having a big gap at the bottom of the door?

I comfort myself by thinking it does provide good ventilation to help keep down condensation.

Apart from sewing on a zip or some more velcro (a big job ) the clingons seem about the only choice and if you use them with elastic and a hooked tent peg from which you can release it, they would do the job but certainly not draught or vermin proof.

I sometimes think tent designers have never actually lived in a tent.
